E-COMMERCE & MERCHANDISING PROJECT LEAD

As a key member of the Merchandising and Design team, the E-commerce & Merchandising Project Lead is responsible for supporting the Senior Manager, Merchandising and E-commerce to strategize and forecast sales cycles, improve e-commerce functionality, and optimize operations of the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

External management
  • Lead cross-functional e-commerce projects from ideation through launch and post-launch optimization (website redesigns, platform upgrades, new market entries, feature rollouts, A/B testing programs, etc.).
  • Ensure timely delivery of all materials, inbound and outbound.
  • Manage and maintain inventory for shop.spacex.com and SpaceX employee retail stores.
  • Own PO issuance and invoice close out for the network of vendors.
  • Coordinate and prioritize work across the Product team, Developers, Marketing, Customer Service, Logistics, and external agencies/vendors.
  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party platform partners (e.g., Shopify, Smartsheet, Shift4, Gorgias, custom builds, payment gateways, analytics tools).
  • Monitor project KPIs (conversion rate, revenue impact, site performance, on-time delivery, budget adherence) and report insights to leadership.
  • Champion best practices in digital commerce, accessibility, SEO, mobile experience, and data privacy/compliance (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
  • Oversee licensing partnerships and 3rd party resellers.

Internal management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for merchandise needs of internal departments, including but not limited to coordinating with vendors to produce promotional or gifting product and facilitating department orders through shop.spacex.com.
  • Responsible for supporting internal product distributions, gifts, events, and employee customer service.
  • Support leadership and finance team to forecast annual spend, report revenue, and retain the most cost-effective suppliers.
  • Lead customer service standards and work with customer service team to adhere to them.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 5+ years of project management experience, with at least 3 years specifically in e-commerce or digital retail environments.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills; ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience with platforms such as Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, or custom headless architectures.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable project decisions.
  • Previous experience in a fast-growing DTC, marketplace, or omnichannel retail business.
  • Knowledge of supply chain, inventory systems, or order management integrations.
  • MS Office, Excel, Smartsheet, Adobe Creative Suite and Figma a plus, but not required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.
  • Must be willing to travel to vendors or other SpaceX locations (up to 5%).

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:
Level 1: $80,000.00 - $105,000.00
Level 2: $95,000.00 - $130,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year.
