Position Overview:
Sutter Medical Foundation (SMF) is seeking an experienced Dosimetrist III to join our innovative and collaborative Radiation Oncology team serving patients throughout the Sacramento Valley.

Our integrated program includes four radiation oncology centers equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including seven matched Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, Gamma Knife, Varian Bravos HDR brachytherapy, AlignRT, ExacTrac, four Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT simulators, and a Siemens SOMATOM Open Pro CT simulator. Our treatment planning ecosystem currently utilizes RayStation TPS and MIM Maestro, supporting advanced treatment planning and image management workflows across the network.

This position will join a comprehensive multidisciplinary team consisting of 7 dosimetrists, 12 medical physicists, and 12 radiation oncologists. Under the direction of department leadership, the Dosimetrist III is responsible for designing and optimizing high-quality, image-based radiation treatment plans in accordance with physician prescriptions, departmental protocols, and evidence-based practice standards. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of radiation therapy principles, anatomy, imaging modalities, treatment planning systems, and quality assurance processes.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapists to develop complex treatment plans, support quality and safety initiatives, and contribute to ongoing improvements in clinical practice. EDUCATION

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Ability to evaluate treatments plans for clinical value and acceptability in clinical situations, to coordinate essential activities in workflow for radiation therapy treatments, and to follow instruction and documented procedures in performing tasks on the computer workstations in an accurate, safe and efficient manner.
  • Must be able to understand the technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics to derive computerized treatment plans and communicate these aspects to the radiation oncologist for plan approval, and to the radiation therapist for plan implementation.
  • Must have the ability to interpret and execute treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols
  • Must possess mathematical skills including algebra, trigonometry, and be able to visualize objects in three-dimensional concepts to facilitate the treatment planning process.

Pay Range is $165,422.40 to $231,566.40 / annual salary

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
