Distribution Attorney

The Opportunity

The Distribution Attorney is an integral part of the Employment Class Action team and will bring a strong background in California employment law, with specific experience in handling PAGA (Private Attorneys General Act) cases and large-scale class action work. Additionally, the candidate should be able to handle cases with both wage/hour and FEHA (Fair Employment and Housing Act) components.

Accountable for
  • Finalize terms of class and PAGA settlements in Motions of Understanding (MOU).
  • Convert MOUs into long-form settlement agreements, including negotiating and finalizing key final settlement terms with defense counsel.
  • Assist attorneys in drafting motions for preliminary and final approval of class action settlements.
  • Draft declarations in support of preliminary and final approval.
  • Work with the settlement administrator in finalizing the settlement administration report.
  • Assist in the drafting of settlement agreements.
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients regarding settlements and needed information.
  • Interact with third-party settlement administrators on carrying out the terms of the settlement agreement.

Qualifications
  • Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Significant experience finalizing terms of settlement and distribution, including in MOUs and long-form settlement agreements.
  • Experience in drafting motions for preliminary and final approval.
  • Strong writing and research skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to work well within a team.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Reliably commute to or planning to relocate to Los Angeles, CA (90017).

Compensation
  • $130,000 - $210,000 depending on experience
