Director, Village Project and Facilities

The Director of Projects and Facilities is a leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, coordination, and delivery of all existing infrastructure and operational planning within the Olympic and Paralympic Village (exclude overlay). This role leads six critical units-Village Space Planning, Project Management, Accessibility, Training Venues, Facility Management, and Venue Lifecycle management, ensuring seamless integration and execution across all planning and delivery phases.

The Director will drive cross-functional collaboration, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and ensure that all Village venues and systems are operationally ready to deliver an exceptional athlete experience. This position reports to the Head of Village Management.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction across six core units: Village Space Planning, Project Management, Accessibility, Training Venues, Facility Management, and Venue lifecycle management.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of Village infrastructure, including residential, training, and operational spaces.
  • Work in close coordination with relevant FAs operating in the village
  • Ensure all venues meet accessibility standards and inclusive design principles, in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of facility operations, including maintenance, readiness, bump-in, bump-out, handover, handback, Olympic to Paralympic transition, and Games-time support.
  • Establish and maintain robust project management systems to track progress, risks, dependencies, and milestones.
  • Work closely with the venue owner to integrate their plans into the Village operating model, ensuring alignment and seamless execution.
  • Represent the Village team in executive forums, cross-functional working groups, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Oversee technology integration, material planning (FF&E), procurement, and resource allocation across all units.
  • Lead readiness activities including simulations, walkthroughs, and operational testing.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture.
Background & Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in project, facilities, or event operations management, preferably in large-scale or international events.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
  • Must be able to navigate large residential and operational zones, including during Games-time conditions.
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
  • Must be able to travel local, domestic, and international:
  • Local: Visits to venues across Los Angeles and surrounding areas, 1-5 times per month or more.
  • Domestic: Travel within the U.S. for meetings or events,
  • International: Travel for global sporting events, meetings, or collaborations once a year
  • Frequent travel to venue sites for technical inspections and collaboration with venue teams and partners.

The annual base salary range for this position is $126,000 - $180,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
