Director, UX - HardwareNeedham, MAThe RoleWe're seeking an experienced and visionary Director of UX to drive both the strategic direction and the tactical execution of UI and UX for new hardware products.
In this senior leadership role you'll champion human-centered design, build and mentor a high-performing team of hardware designers, and partner with cross-functional stakeholders across Industrial Design, Product Development, Engineering, and Advanced Development to deliver world-class products that raise the bar.
What You'll DoDrive new product experiences that combine ease of use, high-quality design craft, and moments of delight - delivering the absolute best value for the consumer.
Build and grow the team. Hire, develop, and mentor a high-performing UX team of designers at all levels, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate across the org, partnering closely with UX, Industrial Design, CMF, Product Development, Project Management, AD, and Consumer Insights.
Raise the bar on craft. Lead design reviews and give clear, constructive direction that elevates quality and consistency - contributing hands-on when needed.
Own deliverables end to end, from concept exploration to detailed specs across hardware and software.
Champion human-centered design, ensuring consumer insights and user research are embedded throughout the design lifecycle from concept to launch.
Evolve the craft itself. Refine UX design patterns and best practices for hardware product experiences.
Evangelize UX company-wide, educating cross-functional partners on the value of design and advocating for the consumer at every level.
Bring in what's next. Oversee the integration of AI tools and emerging technologies into the design process, keeping SharkNinja at the forefront of design innovation.
Run the function. Set team goals, manage resourcing and capacity, and report on UX impact metrics to executive leadership.
What You'll BringExperience & Education- 10+ years of UX design experience, including 5+ years in a people management or leadership role overseeing a team of designers
- Deep experience in consumer product design and development across hardware and software - the leading tools and techniques, plus a proven record of shipping successful products and driving impact across the full product development lifecycle
- Experience integrating software UX with physical hardware products is highly desirable
- A compelling portfolio demonstrating strategic design leadership, compelling products, cross-functional collaboration, and measurable consumer impact
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in UI/UX Design, Industrial Design, Interaction Design, HCI, or a related discipline
Technical Skills- Expert-level proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
- Working knowledge of AI-powered design tools

- Strong business acumen - able to balance consumer advocacy, technical feasibility, and commercial objectives
