What will you do?

This role balances operational leadership and strategic oversight across three core areas:

Operational Excellence (SRE)
  • Oversee Incident/Problem/Change Management and Disaster Recovery exercises to maintain service level objectives for trading applications, with emphasis on very low latency requirements
  • Drive production monitoring capabilities including real-time observability, alerting, and proactive performance testing across trading systems
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives-analyzing incidents and implementing preventive measures to minimize trading impact
  • Ensure systems maintain technology currency and compliance with RBC security and trading compliance standards
  • Identify efficiency opportunities and streamline operating processes without compromising trading performance
  • Support production readiness during software development projects with rigorous trading environment validation

Intelligent Operations
  • Guide the SRE technology roadmap for trading applications (monitoring, alerting, performance analytics, self-healing capabilities)
  • Evaluate and implement industry-leading technical solutions tailored to high frequency and volume, low-latency trading requirements
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Trading Operations, Risk, and Compliance teams to develop integrated solutions
  • Support team adoption of new technologies and methodologies
  • Optimize processes and tools to improve agility while maintaining trading system reliability and cost management

People Leadership
  • Build and develop a high-performing team with focus on growth and engagement
  • Set clear performance goals and support career development
  • Attract and retain skilled engineering and operations talent with expertise in trading systems
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and excellence in a fast-paced trading environment


What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • 8+ years' experience in production operations across multiple technologies and platforms
  • 5+ years of related experience in Software Engineering (SRE, DevOps, Cloud)
  • 5+ years of people management experience leading teams of engineers and operations analysts
  • Proven ability to drive improvements in a complex, high-pressure organization
  • Strong knowledge of SRE and engineering best practices; technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience supporting trading systems, financial market infrastructure, or high-availability applications preferred

Nice-to-have
  • Understanding of trading workflows, market operations, or financial trading technology
  • Experience optimizing low-latency systems or high-frequency and volume environments
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning technologies for performance prediction
