Full Job Description
As Director, Tax, you will report to the head of tax and partner closely with business leaders, legal, treasury, accounting, and our tax team to support global, strategic decision-making and business planning. Your tax responsibilities will be broad, from business-related tax issues including commercial transactions, transfer pricing, cross-border operations, tax disputes, and tax incentives to long-term critical initiatives such as global operating model, intellectual property strategy, supply chain development, mergers and acquisitions, and international expansion.

Our company and our industry are growing rapidly. Our growth and change mean this role requires being in the details, running multiple projects at once, simplifying the complex, and participating in higher-level decision-making. It's a unique and exciting role to provide business critical tax advice and help build a tax department at a company operating at scale and growing.

We are hiring for this position in San Jose, Austin, or Phoenix, and are also open to candidates working remotely within the U.S.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide and implement tax advice relevant to cross-border and domestic operations, product line expansion, supply chain initiatives, intellectual property management, financing, mergers and acquisitions, and international expansion.
  • Support wide-ranging, global tax matters such as tax controversy, transfer pricing, advance pricing agreements, tax incentives, international taxes, withholding taxes, and Pillar 2 and other minimum taxes.
  • Monitor global tax legislative and regulatory developments, assess their impact on the business, and lead implementation of required changes.
  • Partner with tax operations to ensure planning initiatives are appropriately reflected in tax reporting and filings.
  • Lead cross-functional projects, balancing technical excellence with practical execution while influencing collaborators across all levels of the organization.
  • Mentor and develop members of the tax team while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Additional duties as requested.

Required Skills and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in accounting, finance, tax or a related field.
  • CPA, JD, and/or master's degree or equivalent experience in taxation are desirable.
  • 10+ years of dynamic corporate tax experience, including experience in international tax planning within a multinational organization and/or a major public accounting or law firm.
  • Excellent skills in factual development, tax research, documentation, and communication and coordination with third-party advisors and internal collaborators.
  • Strong technical knowledge of international tax principles and experience working with cross-border tax issues affecting multinational enterprises.
  • The ability to translate complex tax issues into practical business advice and influence decision-making across multiple functional areas.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership experience, including hiring and developing tax professionals.
  • High degree of initiative, ownership, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn new technical areas and adapt to changing business needs.
