What you’ll do in the role:
Morgan Stanley Services Group, Inc. is seeking a Director, Software Engineer in New York, New York to work on software development projects and coordinate feature testing, present evidence and proofs of concepts, acquire user signoffs on finished items, and present demo functionality to users. Create action items based on user queries and business requirements. Conduct requirement analysis on backlog items. Engage with business users on preferences, deadlines, and requirements. Participate in Scrum meetings (planning, standups, reviews and retrospectives). Develop and implement new features that adhere to Firm requirements using proprietary tools. Prepare, supervise, and conduct regular maintenance and/or out-of-cycle software releases. Provide application support on- and off-hours. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.
What you’ll bring to the role:
-Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field of study. Employer will accept a 3 year foreign degree.
-Requires three (3) years of experience in the position offered or three (3) years as an Associate, Analyst, or a closely related occupation.
-Requires three (3) years of experience with the following skills:
- Java EE and Spring;
- Scala;
- UI design;
- Angular;
- High-volume, asynchronous, observable, and high-availability distributed systems design;
- Publish/Subscribe (Pub/Sub) based asynchronous messaging systems;
- Queue based messaging systems including IBM MQ;
- Relational databases including Sybase and IBM DB2;
- Database change tracking and management tools including Liquibase;
- Document-oriented databases including NoSQL and MongoDB;
- Containerization tools including Docker;
- CI/CD including Git and Jenkins;
- Agile workflow including Scrum; and
- Build tools and build automation including Gradle.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $165,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
