Position:The Director, Security Operations is part of the Stadium Operations department for Minnesota United FC (MNUFC), a sports business located in the Twins Cities area of Minnesota and a member of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top tier soccer league in North America.
Position Summary:The Director, Security Operations leads all security operations across Allianz Field and related properties including business office space and training facility. This role oversees 24/7 security services, directs match day event security operations, and drives initiatives that enhance the safety, security, and experience for employees, players and guests.
This full-time position is based at Allianz Field in St. Paul, MN, reporting to the General Manager, Allianz Field.
What You'll Do:- Lead the Security Operations team, including Security Managers and Supervisors, overseeing security strategy and operations across MNUFC properties.
- Direct 24/7 security operations at Allianz Field, ensuring the safety of guests, employees, players, and club assets.
- Lead match day and event security operations, including staffing, Event Command Center oversight, incident response, in coordination with third-party security partners.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency management agencies.
- Oversee security operations at the club's training facility and identify opportunities to enhance player, staff, and facility safety.
- Coordinate security planning and support for team travel, including stadiums, hotels, training sites, and other team-related activities.
- Manage security arrangements for high-profile guests, executives, players, and visiting dignitaries.
- Provide strategic oversight of security technology, access control systems, surveillance platforms, and related integrations.
- Manage security service contracts, vendor relationships, and performance standards.
- Lead emergency management, life safety, and business continuity programs, including planning, training, drills, and incident response.
- Oversee security investigations involving club assets, facilities, employees, or events, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
- Develop and manage the annual security operations budget, including operating and capital requests.
- Partner with Legal, Risk Management, Team Operations, Event Services, Fan Experience, Human Resources, and external stakeholders to strengthen safety, compliance, and risk mitigation efforts.
What You'll Bring:- 7+ years of progressive public safety, security, or law enforcement experience, including team leadership responsibilities.
- Experience in a stadium, sports, entertainment, or other public assembly venue preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local public safety regulations and security best practices.
- Proven ability to anticipate challenges, solve problems proactively, and make sound decisions in dynamic environments.
- Experience in emergency management, crisis response, investigations, security technology, life safety, risk management, and workforce scheduling.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, execute projects independently, and drive results with urgency and accountability.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trust across diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Bachelor's degree in Public Safety, Criminal Justice, Public Administration or other related field preferred.
- Currently possess or eligible to obtain AED, first aid, CPR, and other related certificates.
- Proficiency in Raven Controls Incident Management System or similar software preferred.
Requirements:- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass criminal background check.
Compensation & Benefits: Minnesota United FC values the contributions of our team members and is committed to transparency in our compensation practices. The annual salary range for this (exempt) position is $90,000 - $110,000.
