POSITION SUMMARY
This position leads and directs the implementation of Best Practices in the billing process to ensure excellent service to our internal and external customers. This position is responsible for elevating the billing team as a standard of excellence in the clinical laboratory industry. Drives improvements and enhancements to the system/business entity registration processes and revenue service programs and processes, with focus on quality of outcomes and superior service. Promotes a collaborative, open, and inclusive work environment within a matrixed organization. This position serves as the primary advisor to the organization's senior management on matters related to revenue cycle functions. Monitors and oversees compliance of customer service, stakeholder relations, workforce, and financial goals and objectives as developed by the Board of Directors and senior executive management. This position is responsible for serving as a role model to staff across the business and representing Sonora Quest Laboratories in a positive manner both within and outside the organization.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

DIRECTLY REPORTING
Includes direct supervision of department leaders and indirect supervision of department staff.

TYPE OF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has full managerial scope and authority for employment actions, including coaching, candidate selection, training and development, performance appraisals, work assignments, and disciplinary action. This position also has budgetary responsibility.

SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY

Performs under minimal supervision. Customers are both internal and external. Clearly communicates complex billing and financial issues as appropriate.

  • A high degree of technical and decision-making skills
  • Must possess analytical/strategic skills and ability to balance and manage multiple projects and people simultaneously, must possess current knowledge of accounting principles, and knowledge of third-party receivables.
  • Proven track record of driving successful performance outcomes and accomplishing organizational goals.

  • Developing and evaluating best practices and emerging trends for organizational applicability and appropriateness

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or related field.
  • Five (5) years' experience in financial management in the healthcare industry.
  • Four (4) years' experience in mid-level management.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Professional Coder credentials
  • ICD-10 Certification for Diagnosis Translation
  • Additional related education and/or experience.
