Job Summary and Qualifications

The Risk Director/Patient Safety Officer is responsible for the facility's risk management activities, which includes coordinating insurance coverage and risk financing, managing claims against the facility, interfacing with defense legal counsel, administering the risk management program on a day-to-day basis, managing and analyzing risk management data, and conducting risk management educational programs, and complying with the Joint Commission's risk management standards, all with the objective of controlling and minimizing loss to protect the assets of the facility. This position, through role modeling, teaching, consultation and research, assists nursing and ancillary health to achieve their fullest potentials promoting quality care and cost-effective outcomes. Analyzes and evaluates clinical and operational systems data related to outcome management. Assists with the implementation of clinical guidelines/pathways and gathering of data. Serves as Patient Safety Officer and provides consultation and education to hospital and medical staff regarding patient safety issues.

What qualifications you will need:
  • (CPPS) Certified Professional in Patient Safety must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
  • Bachelors Degree in Healthcare field required
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing preferred
  • Masters Degree preferred
  • Five (5) years of recent Patent Safety/Risk experience required.
