Your Next Career Opportunity - Director, Office of the CIO

The Director, Office of the CIO is responsible for supporting the CIO in the oversight, coordination, and execution of key IT management functions. This role provides structure and governance across IT portfolio management, PMO standards and reporting, budget and expense tracking quality assurance, budget and expense tracking, and IT communications.. The position serves as a central point of coordination to ensure CIO priorities, IT initiatives, business requests, and operational activities are managed with clarity, consistency, and accountability.

The Senior Manager, Office of the CIO is responsible for supporting the CIO in the oversight, coordination, and execution of key IT management functions. This role provides structure and governance across IT portfolio management, PMO standards and reporting, budget and expense tracking, office administration, and IT communications. The position serves as a central point of coordination to ensure CIO priorities, IT initiatives, business requests, and operational activities are managed with clarity, consistency, and accountability.

What You Will Do - Primary Responsibilities

IT Portfolio Management
  • Oversee IT Project Portfolio and initiatives.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the process for tracking CIO initiatives, including IT programs and projects.
  • Serve as the intake gatekeeper for IT requests on behalf of the CIO, engaging requestors to clarify needs and ensure business requests are transparent, complete, and appropriately documented.
  • Prioritize initiatives based on business value and resource capacity.
  • Ensure timely follow-up, status tracking, and communication for requests throughout the demand lifecycle.
  • Support business investment decisions.


PMO Templates, Tools, and Reporting
  • Promote consistent use of standardized project, status, and RAID templates across all IT project managers.
  • Prepare and communicate consolidated project health reporting to the CIO.


IT Budget and Expense Management
  • Support the CIO in gathering, consolidating, and tracking IT department budget requests.
  • Prepare year-to-date budget-to-forecast reporting for the department, with particular focus on software, consulting, SaaS, and data-related expenses.
  • Partner with the IT Vendor Management Office Lead to track software renewal costs and license counts.


IT Knowledge Base
  • Standardize IT knowledge base templates to promote consistent formatting, structure, and quality across articles, procedures, and reference materials.
  • Promote consistent presentation of articles and reference materials used throughout the department and organization.
  • Track knowledge base article ownership, review cycles, and updates to ensure content remains accurate, current, and aligned with IT standards.


IT Communications
  • Review, approve, and coordinate the release of IT communications distributed outside the IT organization.
  • Ensure IT communications are clear, accurate, appropriately positioned, and aligned with CIO expectations.


IT Quality Assurance
  • Oversee pre-production quality assurance, system integration testing, user acceptance testing strategy, and related personnel for key CIO-designated programs.


ERP Program Leadership
  • Provide leadership support to the ERP Program Executive, an executive contractor assigned to the initiative, to help ensure the ERP Program is delivered on time, within budget, and at the expected level of quality.


Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Work with Talent Acquisition to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ a talented and diverse group of high-performing team members.
  • Provide oversight and direction to team members in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members, including overseeing new team member onboarding and providing career development planning and growth opportunities.
  • Empower team members to take ownership of their job and goals. Delegate responsibilities as needed and provide routine constructive feedback on performance.
  • Create a culture that is consistent with the organization's focus on team member engagement, and that aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  • Lead team members using a performance management and development-focused approach to assist in goal setting, two-way feedback, and performance development planning.
  • Lead team members to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.


What You'll Need - Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, Project Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
    • Minimum of twelve (12) years of progressive experience in IT operations, IT portfolio management, PMO support, business operations, finance, or executive-level team alignment.
  • Previous people management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior technology leadership, preferably an enterprise IT function.
  • Strong understanding of IT project governance, demand intake, portfolio tracking, status reporting, and budget management processes.
  • Project management certification or coursework, such as PMP, PMI-ACP, Agile, Scrum, CAPM, or related training, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate across teams, and follow through on action items with limited supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise, and executive-ready materials.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, judgment, and attention to detail when handling sensitive business, financial, and organizational information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, collaboration tools, project tracking tools, and reporting platforms commonly used in enterprise IT environments.
  • Experience with project management, collaboration, or portfolio management tools.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Portuguese preferred
