Full Job Description
Make Your Mark:

The Director of Strategic Sourcing, Technology will serve as the category owner responsible for developing and executing end-to-end sourcing strategies across all technology spend, including cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), SaaS, infrastructure, and data/AI platforms. This role will lead complex, high-impact negotiations and build strong relationships with internal partners and external vendors. The Director will partner closely with Engineering, IT, Product, and Finance leaders to drive value, mitigate risk, and ensure our technology procurement aligns with BlackLine's strategic objectives.

You'll Get To:

  • Technology Category Strategy: Develop and execute multi-year category strategies for all key IT categories, including software, hardware, SaaS, cloud services, and AI platforms, aligned to product, engineering, and financial roadmaps.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Execution: Lead the full sourcing lifecycle from strategy development through RFx, negotiation, and contract execution. Monitor industry trends and market conditions to identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Vendor Negotiation & Management: Lead complex negotiations with major IT vendors for high-value agreements, including Enterprise Licensing Agreements (ELAs) and cloud consumption contracts, to ensure favorable business and legal terms. Monitor the cost, schedule, and performance of major contracts.
  • SaaS & Vendor Portfolio Optimization: Drive enterprise-wide SaaS portfolio optimization by identifying and eliminating redundant tools, consolidating vendors, and optimizing license usage. Develop and manage a preferred vendor program.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with IT, Finance, Legal, and other business units to understand their needs, define requirements, and ensure procurement strategies align with company goals.
  • Financial Oversight & Compliance: Oversee the financial aspects of IT procurement, including budget adherence, cost analysis, and identifying opportunities for cost savings. Develop, communicate, and enforce company purchasing policies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the technology and industry trends for cloud services and related technologies and perform competitive analysis on relevant offerings
  • Develop, manage and refresh sourcing strategies and roadmaps for cloud and maintain understanding of the actively managed adjacent technologies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with executive management at core cloud providers. Influence supplier business models, roadmaps, and support to ensure Meta's commercial and technical requirements are met
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of IT sourcing professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and strategic thinking.

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, with at least 5 years focused on technology categories (cloud, SaaS, infrastructure). Proven experience in a leadership or management role is required.
  • Negotiation Skills: Expert-level negotiation skills with a proven track record of successfully negotiating large, complex, multi-million-dollar IT contracts.
  • Technical Domain Expertise:
    • Demonstrated experience sourcing and negotiating contracts for AI technologies.
    • Deep knowledge of the IT vendor landscape and hands-on experience structuring agreements for cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), enterprise SaaS, and infrastructure.
    • Strong understanding of cloud economics, SaaS licensing models, and vendor commercial frameworks.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze spend data and market trends to make data-driven decisions.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. An MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) are highly desirable.
  • Must have strong experience negotiating AI and Cloud Platform contracts

Salary Range:

USD $207,000.00/Yr. - USD $259,000.00/Yr.

Placement within this range depends upon several factors, including the applicant's prior relevant job experience, skill set, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, BlackLine also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans.
