Position SummaryThe Director of Nursing (DON) is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and supervision of all nursing care and clinical operations within our Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and other licensed areas. The DON ensures the highest standard of resident care is delivered in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Leadership: Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Nursing Department, ensuring comprehensive, high-quality, person-centered care for all residents.
- Compliance & Quality: Maintain full compliance with all IDPH/CMS regulations (including the Nurse Practice Act) and implement effective Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs.
- Staff Management: Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate nursing personnel (RNs, LPNs, CNAs). Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional working environment.
- Budget & Resources: Manage the nursing department budget efficiently, including labor, supplies, and equipment.
- Policy & Procedure: Develop, implement, and review nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other department heads, physicians, residents, and families to ensure coordinated and effective care delivery.
Qualifications- Licensure: Current, unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Illinois.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Director of Nursing (DON) in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Long-Term Care (LTC) setting is required.
- Knowledge: Expert knowledge of Federal and Illinois State regulations, survey processes, and quality improvement methodologies (QAPI).
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a large team of nursing professionals.
- Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
