Full Job Description
Hybrid role, 1-day per week in our downtown office. Only candidates located in the Lower Mainland will be considered.

About the Role

As our Controller at Traction Complete, you are responsible for overseeing the financial accounting for the company, including execution and overseeing various financial and administrative processes, being involved in business planning, preparing financial reporting to management, and playing a key role in audit and compliance. You will report to the CEO.

What You Will Be Doing

Strategic Finance & Planning
  • Own the annual operating plan, quarterly reforecast, and long-range plan, including scenario and sensitivity analysis across ARR growth, headcount, and cash outcomes
  • Own board and investor reporting, including the quarterly financial package, KPI dashboard, budget-vs-actuals narrative, and supporting analysis
  • Advise on capital structure, including the mix of internal financing, venture debt, and equity, and model the cash and dilution impact of each

Accounting, Reporting & Revenue
  • Own the monthly and annual close, including the close calendar, reconciliation standards, and cycle-time targets, and deliver accurate and timely financial and management reporting, including all group reporting requirements
  • Own revenue recognition across the contract portfolio under ASPE, including technical review of complex and non-standard arrangements and the supporting position memos
  • Maintain the integrity of accounting records and the internal control environment appropriate to the company's stage, scaling controls ahead of growth
  • Own purchasing policy, expense management, AR/AP, collections, and customer billing
  • Reconcile the ARR waterfall to bookings and to the general ledger, and own the explanation of any divergence
  • Partner with Revenue Operations on pipeline, quota capacity, and commission accrual inputs

Payroll & Compliance
  • Own the payroll function end to end, including payroll tax remittances, compliance filings across all applicable jurisdictions, and annual T4/T4A preparation and filing
  • Ensure compliance obligations are met across all jurisdictions in which the company operates, and identify exposure before it becomes an issue

Leadership & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead the Finance & Accounting team with full accountability for financial reporting, the accounting cycle, and payroll, including hiring, performance management, and succession planning
  • Serve as the senior finance point of contact for internal stakeholders, external partners, auditors, vendors, and suppliers
  • Identify and implement technology-enabled improvements across the finance stack, and lead ad hoc analysis and continuous improvement projects as the business scales


What You Bring
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including 3+ years in controllership experience
  • CPA or other recognized Professional Accounting Designation
  • Proven experience in a dynamic, high-growth SaaS company, where adaptability is imperative
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to operate efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial reporting (ASPE and IFRS)
  • Confidence, and exceptional communication abilities
  • Strategic mindset, and solid knowledge of financial planning, forecasting and analysis
  • Ability to operate broadly and to add value beyond traditional accounting

Compensation

Our market data is refreshed on an annual basis to reflect the most current market conditions. The salary band for this role is $160,000 - $180,000 commensurate with experience.

Starting salaries will vary within this range based on experience, skill level, and internal equity related to the role.
