POSITION: Director of Finance

Role Overview

The Director of Finance is a critical leadership position within Archive, overseeing all aspects of financial management and reporting. This role is a strategic partner to the General Managers and Directors, and acts as a liaison with the ownership group on financial reporting and business management. This leader is a key collaborator in driving profitability and organizational efficiency, while safeguarding assets, and ensuring the financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with experience in an entrepreneurial, growth-stage hospitality organization.

JOB OVERVIEW: Provide strategic and functional leadership of Archive's finance and accounting operations. Collaborate with leadership team to achieve the business' strategic priorities and business performance metrics.

REPORTS TO: Ownership Representative dotted line to Chief Operating Officer

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Accounting Operations: Oversee all accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, government remittances and cash management.
  • Financial Reporting: Guide the team in delivering accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and USALI standards.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and prepare financial forecasts and variance analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Internal Controls: Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
  • Coaching and Leadership: Manage, mentor and train accounting team members while promoting accountability and continuous development.
  • Process Improvement: Evaluate accounting procedures and systems and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy and consistency.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data and performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations to support the operational business plan.
  • Ownership Reporting: Liaise directly with Ownership and prepare financial reports, presentations and supporting materials related to Archive's results, key projects, capital expenditures, budgets and forecasts.
  • Ad Hoc Reporting and Support: Prepare ad hoc financial reports, analyses and presentations and support other projects or miscellaneous requests from Ownership as required.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • 7-10 years of experience in full-cycle accounting in a hospitality environment, 2-3 in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business or Accounting required, CPA preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP and USALI.
  • Proficiency with various accounting software, including NetSuite, a strong asset
  • Familiarity with related systems such as ADP, Maestro, POS system, Silverware, a strong asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a willingness to get involved in operational finance needs
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build a productive and engaged team culture

Job Requirements:
  • This is a primarily office-based role, with some WFH flexibility
  • Candidates must have the ability to travel to each GTA property at least once per month to meet with General Managers and discuss operational priorities
  • As a leadership position, this role will require some out of hours work on evenings or weekends, to represent the organization at industry or internal events.
