Full Job Description
TCOM is seeking an experienced Director of Business Development - Radar to lead the identification, shaping, pursuit, and capture of domestic and international radar opportunities across air, maritime, ground, and integrated air and missile defense markets.

This strategic leadership role will develop and execute radar-focused growth strategies, cultivate senior-level customer relationships, anticipate future mission requirements, and drive competitive positioning across TCOM's radar portfolio, including surveillance radars, multi-mission systems, counter-UAS radars, and integrated sensor architectures.

Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams, the Director will lead strategic campaigns from opportunity identification through contract award. Key areas of responsibility include market analysis, competitive assessment, customer engagement, solution shaping, capture strategy, and cross-functional leadership.

This position requires domestic and international travel, generally 25-50% within the assigned region, with quarterly travel to the U.S. for international assignments. Certain campaigns may require temporary or long-term residence in a target country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new radar business opportunities in U.S. and international markets.
  • Develop and execute strategic business plans targeting Departments/Ministries of Defense and other governmental agencies.
  • Build and maintain strong senior-level customer relationships and proactively identify future customer and mission needs.
  • Develop campaign-specific business development and capture strategies and secure the resources and management commitment necessary for successful execution.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional capture efforts from opportunity identification through contract award.
  • Research and analyze competitors, products, services, market conditions, and customer requirements to strengthen TCOM's competitive positioning.
  • Monitor market penetration, product positioning, business plans, campaign status, and budget requirements.
  • Translate customer feedback and market intelligence into actionable recommendations for engineering, operations, sales, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance product capabilities, stability, differentiation, and cost competitiveness.
  • Develop and obtain information required for proposals, bids, contracts, market studies, and competitive assessments.
  • Participate in proposal development and prepare quotations in coordination with appropriate contributing departments.
  • Develop and maintain a strong professional network and provide guidance to more junior business development personnel on customer knowledge and network development.
  • Coordinate with internal leaders, technical teams, management, and external customers to identify business opportunities and potential threats within the global marketplace.
  • Represent TCOM professionally with customers, partners, government organizations, and other external stakeholders.
  • Track campaign metrics and provide visibility into opportunity status, resource requirements, and budget considerations.
  • Exercise sound judgment, integrity, tact, and diplomacy when working with customers, partners, employees, and all levels of management.


Education & Experience Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15 or more years of related professional experience in business development, capture, sales, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.


Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of the defense, radar, aerospace, or related technology markets.
  • Experience developing and executing business strategies involving U.S. and/or international government customers.
  • Experience working with defense ministries, government agencies, and other government customers.

Work Environment & Travel

This position involves regular interaction with customers, partners, internal teams, and senior leadership. The role requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a dynamic, results-oriented environment.

Travel: Approximately 25-50% within the assigned region, with quarterly travel to the U.S. for international assignments. Temporary or long-term international relocation may be required for certain campaigns.

In compliance with Virginia state and local laws, the salary range for this role in Virginia is $150,000 - $200,00. The range provided is a general guideline and good faith estimate representative of all experience levels but is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. TCOM considers several factors when extending an offer including, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, a candidate's experience, education/training, key skills, internal equity, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
