Full Job Description
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Admission, the Director of Admission manages the day-to-day admissions operations for all programs in the law school and leads the administration of financial aid and scholarships. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Admission, the position leads the admissions team in enrolling the most promising possible Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), Master of Legal Studies (MLS), and Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) cohorts. JOB DESCRIPTION: • Work collaboratively with senior administrators throughout Emory School of Law to create and execute recruitment and admissions initiatives. • Provide innovative leadership and oversight of the law school's admissions and financial aid operations for all law school programs. • Lead the advancement of strategically established enrollment goals through the development and implementation of comprehensive and sound financial aid practices. • Manage the student admissions process in a manner that ensures overall student success. • Produce detailed, systematic reports outlining progress toward enrollment goals on a regular and consistent basis. • Monitor the school's financial aid resources to ensure that the needs of both new and current students are consistently and effectively met. • Ensure all admissions and financial aid operations are conducted in strict compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as all applicable Emory University policies. • Cultivate and maintain highly functional professional relationships with key university constituents, including both internal and external stakeholders. • Produce strategic plans and budgets that link expenditures with outcomes. • Analyze relevant data in a continuing effort to shape the school's strategic enrollment strategies. • Lead continuous assessments of the overall effectiveness of the admissions and financial aid practices in order to formulate continuously evolving plans that address both enrollment trends and institutional needs. • Promote continuous and consistent engagement with students and alumni to ensure adequate messaging is conveyed regarding Emory Law. • Maintain consistent and effective lines of communication with the university's various academic areas. • Facilitate an environment conducive to effective communication and highly functional cooperation within the Office of Admission and Scholarships. • Review and evaluate application files and conduct admissions interviews. • Develop, organize, implement, and supervise admissions events, both in person and virtually. • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Enrollment Marketing and Office of Communications to develop and implement marketing materials and targeted communication plans, including electronic communications and social media platforms. • Perform related responsibilities as required. ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: • Administer financial aid and scholarships for the law school. • Manage correspondence to include production of admissions decision and scholarship letters. • Track and analyze data and generate regular operational, statistical, and narrative reports. • Initiate, cultivate, and maintain relationships with external and internal parties, including students, career advisors, administrators, alumni, faculty, staff, and peers. • Identify and develop new local, national, and international markets for targeted recruitment in support of the strategic plan. • Oversee international outreach efforts for the enrollment of students in all Emory Law programs. • Collaborate with faculty, alumni, the Emory community, and other educational institutions or organizations to enhance or develop partnerships and pipelines for future applicants, both domestically and internationally. • Participate in the development of a strategic recruitment travel plan and then manage, coordinate, and conduct domestic and international travel. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • A master's or JD degree. • Three years of experience in admissions, financial aid, or a related field at a selective institution of higher education. • Ability to travel domestically and internationally with heavier travel expected in the fall recruitment period. • Effective writing and public speaking skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • A JD degree. • Additional foreign language skills are a plus. • Exceptional writing and public speaking skills. • The ideal candidate will have at least one of the following: • Three or more years of experience managing financial aid programs, including need and merit scholarships and processing of federal and private student loans; • Three or more years of experience managing LLM or other legal graduate school admissions; or • Three or more years of experience managing admissions interview programs. NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
