Position Overview
Reporting to the head of fixed income Product Control and managing a team of two, the Municipal Product Control Director plays a key role in supporting the financial oversight of municipal fixed income trading activities by delivering accurate revenue reporting, validating balance sheet positions, and maintaining a strong control environment. Working in partnership with Trading, Risk, Operations, Technology, and Finance teams, this position provides financial insight, strengthens operational processes, and helps ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, analyze, and explain daily, weekly, and monthly trading revenue results for municipal fixed income portfolios, partnering closely with trading teams to provide timely financial insight
- Research and resolve profit and loss variances resulting from trade capture issues, valuation differences, system exceptions, or incomplete transaction processing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders-including Trading, Risk Management, Operations, Middle Office, Technology, and Accounting-to resolve reporting issues and enhance operational efficiency
- Perform month-end financial close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, account substantiation, and supporting documentation to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing financial controls and identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen governance, and reduce operational risk
- Participate in strategic initiatives focused on automation, workflow optimization, system enhancements, and control improvements across the product control function.
- Review new transactions to determine appropriate valuation methodologies, accounting treatment, and financial statement presentation in accordance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
- Respond to ad hoc financial analyses, reporting requests, and business support needs for trading management and finance leadership.
This is a hybrid role, 2 or 3 days per week in midtown Manhattan
Qualified candidates should have 10+ years of fixed income product control experience, with a specific concentration on municipal bonds and derivatives. Hands on P&L production experience required
Base salary 200-250k
