The Director, McKesson Total Care Solutions (MTCS) Operations is responsible for leading and overseeing the execution of MTCS service delivery across both field-based and remote teams. This includes direct accountability for pharmacy and dispensary operations embedded within customer clinics, as well as coordination with centralized support and administrative functions.
This role ensures consistent, high-quality service delivery aligned with McKesson standards and customer expectations through strong operational governance, performance management, and continuous process improvement. The Director partners cross-functionally with Medically Integrated Dispensing (MID), MTCS leadership, Information Technology (IT), and customer stakeholders to drive operational efficiency, compliance, and scalability.
The position requires a PharmD (or equivalent clinical credential) and deep expertise in pharmacy operations, specialty pharmacy, and medically integrated dispensing models.
Key Responsibilities- Lead day-to-day MTCS operations across:
- Field-based pharmacy and dispensary teams embedded within customer clinics
- Remote service delivery teams
- Administrative and operational support functions
- Ensure consistent execution of pharmacy and dispensing operations in alignment with McKesson standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations
- Establish and enforce standardized workflows, staffing models, and performance expectations
- Serve as the primary operational liaison between customer sites and corporate support teams
- Drive coordination across clinical, operational, and centralized service functions to ensure seamless service delivery
- Serve as an escalation resource capable of directly supporting pharmacy operations in both clinical and non-clinical roles during periods of transition, staffing gaps, or operational disruptions.
Performance Management, Metrics, and Continuous Improvement- Own operational performance across MTCS services, including:
- Service level adherence
- Operational efficiency and productivity
- Quality and compliance metrics
- Develop, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned to customer contracts and corporate standards
- Drive accountability through structured performance reviews and corrective action plans
- Identify opportunities for process standardization and optimization across sites
- Partner with analytics teams to leverage data insights for performance improvement
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Program Enhancement- Collaborate with MID, MTCS, IT, and other internal teams to support solution integration and delivery
- Support onboarding of new customers, services, and operational capabilities
- Contribute to the development and refinement of MTCS playbooks, tools, and best practices
- Ensure alignment between operational execution and broader MTCS/MID strategic priorities
- Provide ongoing feedback on customer needs and operational challenges to inform service and product enhancements
Minimum Requirement- Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience.
Education- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent clinical credential required
Critical Skills- 8+ years of pharmacy experience, including 4+ years in operations leadership or management roles
- Experience managing healthcare operations, preferably in multi-site or field-based environments
- Specialty pharmacy and/or Medically Integrated Dispensing (MID) experience preferred
- Proven leadership of pharmacy or healthcare operations with accountability for service delivery and outcomes
- Experience managing distributed teams (field-based and remote)
- Demonstrated success implementing standardized processes across multiple sites
- Experience working with provider practices, clinics, or health systems
- Strong familiarity with specialty pharmacy and/or MID operating models
- Exposure to specialty pharmacy or medically integrated dispensing (MID) business models strongly preferred
Additional Knowledge & Skills- Deep knowledge of pharmacy operations, workflow design, and regulatory requirements
- Understanding of oncology and specialty pharmacy environments preferred
