About the Team and the Role

Join eBay's Global Employee Communications leadership team, where we connect employees to eBay's strategy, equip leaders to communicate effectively, and support engagement, and culture.

As the Director of Internal Communications for our Supporting Functions, you will serve as the lead strategic communications architect for eBay's global Finance, Legal, and Growth organizations.

You will be a trusted advisor to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Chief Legal Officer (CLO), and the Chief Growth Officer, responsible for translating complex corporate strategies, financial milestones, and regulatory frameworks into compelling narratives that engage and align employees worldwide. This is a high-impact leadership role that sits at the intersection of corporate reputation, employee engagement, and organizational transformation.

What You Will Accomplish

  • Executive Advisory & Thought Leadership: Serve as the primary communications strategist for the CFO, CLO, and Chief Growth Officer. Coach senior leaders on their authentic voice, executive presence, and delivery across high-stakes moments, including quarterly earnings internal cascades and global functional summits.
  • Strategic Narrative Development: Design and own the multi-year communication roadmap for the Finance and Legal organizations. Align these functions with eBay's broader enterprise strategy, ensuring employees understand how financial discipline and legal integrity drive marketplace innovation.
  • Change Management & Crisis Navigation: Lead the communications strategy for complex organizational changes, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and sensitive regulatory or compliance-related initiatives. Partner with People Business Partners (HR) to ensure clarity and empathy during periods of transition.
  • Global Functional Alignment: Orchestrate horizontal communication across global finance and legal hubs. Ensure a unified culture and "line of sight" between regional teams and the global functional headquarters.
  • High-Impact Experience Strategy: Direct the strategy for major global functional events, including Global All-Hands, Strategy Kick-offs, and Leadership Offsites. Focus on high-value engagement rather than just logistics, ensuring every touchpoint reinforces eBay's DNA.
  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Collaborate with Investor Relations, Global Corporate Communications, and Marketing to ensure internal functional messaging is consistent with external financial reporting and brand positioning.
  • Operational Excellence & Playbooks: Define and scale "best-in-class" communication standards. Develop frameworks and playbooks that empower middle management within Finance and Legal to communicate effectively with their localized teams.
  • Data-Driven Influence: Utilize advanced sentiment analysis and communication metrics to provide executive stakeholders with actionable insights into organizational health and employee alignment, refining strategies based on measurable impact.

What You Will Bring

  • 12+ Years of progressive communications experience: Demonstrated success in corporate, employee, and executive communications, including at least five years operating at Director level or above within a global, publicly traded technology company.
  • Extensive C-suite advisory experience: At least five years serving as a lead communications adviser to a CEO and multiple C-suite executives, with direct ownership of executive positioning, leadership narratives, employee communications, and high-stakes organizational messaging.
  • Corporate and employee communications leadership: Proven experience leading both corporate communications and employee communications teams, including responsibility for communications strategy, talent development, agency or vendor management, and delivery across a complex global organization.
  • Financial, legal, and governance literacy: Ability to understand and clearly communicate topics such as GAAP and non-GAAP performance, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, ESG, workforce matters, and reputational risk. Experience partnering closely with Finance, Legal, People, Marketing, and Investor Relations leaders is strongly preferred.
  • Integrated strategic storytelling: Exceptional ability to connect business strategy, employee engagement, executive visibility, and corporate reputation through compelling, audience-specific storytelling grounded in data and organizational context.
  • People and functional leadership: Demonstrated experience managing communications professionals and/or managers, building high-performing teams, and establishing operating models, priorities, measurement practices, and communications governance.
  • Enterprise program leadership: Proven success leading large-scale, cross-functional communications initiatives from strategy through execution, including programs involving multiple business units, geographies, executives, and stakeholder groups.
  • Experience in complex technology organizations: Significant experience navigating matrixed, fast-changing technology companies and advising leaders through transformation, organizational change, reputational issues, or other high-visibility business moments.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Business, Economics or a related discipline An MBA, JD, or comparable advanced degree is strongly preferred.
