Full Job Description
This role requires an experienced senior banker with a strong background in credit adjudication and knowledge of trading product structures. The individual is responsible for a diversified portfolio spanning commodities and single-product relationships across a broad range of trading solutions. The position leads the end-to-end execution of complex, cross-border trading facilities, coordinating closely with Trading, Legal, Credit Risk, Operations, and external counsel. The role requires confidence in leading negotiations on key structural terms, including security, margining frameworks, and close‑out provisions. Key responsibilities include: - Lead underwriting of transactions, including due diligence, financial analysis, structuring and negotiation of legal documentation. - Consider risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures. - Actively monitoring clients, industries and regulatory agencies, assessing implications for the portfolio and taking appropriate actions. - Review and continually monitor performance of existing accounts and client relationships, ensuring timely identification and escalation of emerging risks. - Understand complexity of transactions and related risks (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.). - Independently manage a complex portfolio of companies with competing priorities while overseeing junior team members’ deliverables. - Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and execution, proactively developing practical and well-considered solutions. - Execute strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. - Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders. - Provide guidance, mentorship and performance feedback to Associates and Analysts; accountable for development of juniors, where applicable. - Key First line of Defense and credit recommender for Global Markets transactions/facilities. Qualifications: - Candidates with commodity (metals, energy, agriculture, carbon credit) industry knowledge are preferred. - Candidates should have 10+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Knowledge of capital markets, trading products, corporation banking and applicable regulations is a requirement. - Excellent knowledge of portfolio management strategies and objectives. - Substantial experience in deal/transaction execution. - Technical proficiency in relevant computer applications. - Strong verbal & written communication skills. - Strong collaboration & team skills. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Strong data management skills Please note the base salary for this role is $175,000 CAD.
