Summary:

The Director of General Accounting is responsible for managing the general accounting function and involvement with various strategic projects as needed.

Responsibilities:

  1. Adds value as a key member of management; understands the business, financials, industry, customers and strategy.
  2. Supervises employees, provides direction, coaches, trains and develops employees, and manages performance to company goals and expectations.
  3. Prepares, manages, and adheres to department budget to maintain expenditure controls.
  4. Manages the general ledger and financial reporting function including coordinating reporting and schedules for the financial audits for the enterprise.
  5. Accumulates financial and statistical data necessary to produce monthly financial statements through consolidation that fairly present the financial condition of the Hospital and its subsidiaries.
  6. Manages the financial reporting, fixed asset functions and cash management for the enterprise.
  7. Reviews and interprets accounting guidance to ensure financial statements are presented according to GAAP.
  8. Other duties as required.

Technical Expertise

  1. Experience in accounting is required.
  2. Experience in the monthly and yearly close process as well as production of GAAP financial statements for a multi-entity organization is required.
  3. Experience in working with auditors to complete the annual audit is required.
  4. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
  5. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  6. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Accounting software is required.

Education and Experience

  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required. Master's Degree preferred.
  2. Certification: CPA required.
  3. Years of experience: 6 years is required.
  4. Years of experience supervising: 5 years is required.
