Emp Status Regular Full time Work Shift Compensation Range The base pay scale for this position is $169,000.00 - $257,875.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. What you will be doing Position Summary The Director of Enterprise Architecture is a senior technology leader responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously advancing HSS's enterprise architecture program. The Director leads a team of enterprise architects and provides strategic and technical direction across network, cloud, cybersecurity, and core systems infrastructure. This role ensures that HSS's technology investments and solution designs are secure, scalable, resilient, interoperable, and aligned with institutional priorities. The Director establishes architecture governance, standards, roadmaps, and review processes while partnering with technology, clinical, operational, research, and executive leaders to translate organizational needs into cohesive enterprise solutions. The successful candidate will bring broad expertise across all four technology domains and deep knowledge in at least onepreferably network architecture or cybersecurity. This leader must combine strategic thinking and people leadership with a hands-on, do-it-yourself approach to solving complex technical problems. Key Responsibilities Enterprise Architecture Program Leadership  Establish, lead, and continuously improve HSS's enterprise architecture program,includingitsoperating model, governance structure,engagement processes, mission,services, performancemeasuresandmultiyearroadmap.  Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of enterprise architects supporting network, cloud, cybersecurity, and core systems infrastructure.  Defineandmaintainenterprisearchitecture principles, standards, reference architectures, design patterns, decision frameworks, technology lifecyclepracticesandarchitecture review processes that enabletimely,consistentandwellinformedtechnologydecisions.  Ensure architectural decisions align with HSS's clinical, operational, research, financial, security, and strategic priorities.  Serve as the primary escalation point for complex architectural decisions and cross-domain technical issues.  Measure and communicate the enterprise architecture program's impact, progress, risks, and priorities to senior leadership. Architecture Strategy & Governance Develop andmaintainenterprise technology strategies and roadmaps across network, cloud, cybersecurity, and core systems infrastructure.  Chair or lead enterprise architecture review boards and other technical governance forums.  Oversee architecturereviews for major technology initiatives, ensuring solutions meet requirements for security, scalability, reliability, interoperability, supportability, and cost-effectiveness.  Identifytechnical debt, architectural risks, capability gaps, and modernization opportunities across the enterprise.  Develop actionable recommendations and investment priorities for executive and technology leadership.  Ensure architecture standards are practical, clearly documented,broadly understood, and consistently applied.  Partner with portfolio, project, engineering, and operations leaders to integrate architecture activities into planning and delivery processes.  Maintainappropriate documentationof architecture decisions, exceptions, dependencies, and risk acceptance. Solution Architecture & Delivery  Direct the architecture of complex enterprise solutions spanning multiple technology domains.  Guidethe design, development, and production deployment of internally developed technical workflows and integrated solutions encompassing at least three of the following domains: network, cloud, cybersecurity, and core systems infrastructure.  Ensure business, clinical, operational, security, and regulatory requirements are translated into scalable technical designs.  Provide architectural oversight throughout the solution lifecycle, from requirements and conceptual design through implementation, production deployment, and optimization.  Partner with engineering and operations teams to ensure approved architectures are implemented successfully and can be supported in production.  Establish technical acceptance criteria andvalidatesolutions against architecture, security, performance, availability, and resiliency requirements.  Participate directly in complex designs, prototypes, scripting, and technical problem-solving whenappropriate.  Promote the use of automation and scripting through PowerShell, Python, or equivalent technologies. Team Leadership & Development  Recruit, lead, mentor, andretainhighlyperforming teamof enterprisearchitects,fostering a culture oftechnical excellence, ownership,curiosityandcontinuousimprovement.  Define clear roles, responsibilities, career paths, and performance expectations for the architecture team.  Allocate architecture resources across enterprise initiatives based on strategic importance, complexity, risk, and organizational capacity.  Encourage architects to challenge assumptions, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical solutions to complex problems.  Introducenew technologies, methodologies, and architectural practices to the team and broader technology organization.  Establish training, mentoring, documentation, and knowledge-sharing practices that strengthen architecture capabilities across HSS.  Foster strong working relationships between architects and traditional IT engineering, operations, security, application, and support teams. Security, Risk & Compliance  Embed security, privacy, resiliency, and regulatory requirements into enterprise architecture standards and solution designs.  Ensure technologyarchitectures alignwith HIPAA, HITECH, and other applicable healthcare security and privacy requirements.  Partner with cybersecurity, privacy, compliance, and risk teams toidentifyand mitigate architectural and operational risks.  Promote secure-by-design,least-privilege, defense-in-depth, and zero-trust principles.  Ensure architecture decisions account for high availability, business continuity, disaster recovery, incident response, and the demands of a patient-care environment.  Support risk assessments, audits, remediation planning, and technology control reviews. AI, Automation & Emerging Technology  Evaluate artificial intelligencedevelopment and orchestration frameworks forappropriate enterpriseuse cases.  Guidethe secure, responsible, and scalable adoption of AI-enabled technologies within HSS.  Sponsor proofs of concept and technical evaluations tovalidatenew technologiesbefore enterprise adoption.  Partner with data and analytics teams on solutions involving data platforms, data integration, data engineering, analytics, and AI capabilities.  Establish architectural guardrails that enable innovation while protecting institutional data and technology resources. Executive Communication & Collaboration  Serve as a trusted technology advisor to Digital & Technology leadership and other senior stakeholders.  Translate complex technical issues into clear business implications, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations.  Present architecture strategies, roadmaps, investment needs, and major decisions to executive and governance audiences.  Build alignment among technical teams with different priorities, operating models, and areas of expertise.  Partner with clinical, research, operational, application, data, engineering, security, and infrastructure leadersonenterprise initiatives.  Collaborate with vendors and technology partners to evaluate solutions,validatedesigns, and ensure alignment with HSS standards.  Represent the enterprise architecture function in strategic planning, portfolio governance, vendor selection, and major technology investment decisions. Qualifications Required  10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise technology, infrastructure engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, ora relatedfield.  5+ years of leadership experience managing enterprise architects, senior engineers, or similarly experienced technical professionals.  Demonstrated experienceestablishing, leading, or significantly advancing an enterprise architecture program.  Broadexpertiseacross network, cloud, cybersecurity, and core systems infrastructure.  Deep technicalexpertisein at least one of these domains, with network architecture or cybersecurity strongly preferred.  Demonstrated success leading the design, development, and production deployment of internally developed technical workflows or solutions spanning at least three enterprise technology domains.  Extensive experience leading architecture reviews and technical governance processes for complex enterprise solutions.  Strong understanding of enterprise networking, cloud platforms, identity and access management, security architecture,compute, storage, virtualization, operating systems, and infrastructure services.  Working knowledge ofregulated industry with associated controls (e.g.,HIPAA)and applicable privacy, security, and technology requirements.  Hands-on coding or scripting experience using Python,PowerShell,oran equivalentlanguage.  Practical workplace experience with AI, generative AI, large language models, or LLM development and orchestration frameworks.  Experience introducingnew technologiesand successfully training teams on their adoption, implementation, and support.  Demonstrated ability to work effectively with traditional IT teams while advancing modern architecture, cloud, security, automation, and engineering practices.  Exceptional executive communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical matters to senior leaders and nontechnical audiences. Preferred  Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or another highly regulated industry.  Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, ora relateddiscipline.  Relevant enterprise architecture, cloud, networking, or security certifications.  Understanding ofdata engineering, data integration, and modern enterprise data platforms.  Ability to write and review SQL queries and scripts.  Experience with hybrid or multi-cloud environments,infrastructure ascode,DevSecOps, observability, configuration management, and workflow orchestration.  Familiarity with clinical technology environments and the availability, security, and resiliency requirements associated with patient care.
