The Opportunity

AssetMark is seeking an experienced Director, Engineering, to lead an engineering team for our salesforce implementation. In this role, you will be responsible for building, managing, and developing a high-performing team of engineers while driving architectural decisions and technical execution for our salesforce implementations. As a key leader within the engineering organization, you will partner closely with a Director of Product to translate business requirements into technical solutions that advance AssetMark's wealth management platform capabilities, with specific focus on Financial Service Cloud.

We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and is close to our Charlotte, NC office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Core Responsibilities
    • Lead multiple engineering teams or complex product areas
    • Define and implement technical strategy, establish engineering processes and standards, while aligning engineering execution to business goals.
    • "In the weeds" across sprint planning, story grooming, technical implementations, and other sprint ceremonies
    • Brings urgency, clarity and focus and resolution to incidents/outages involving team owned systems
  • Technical Design & Implementation
    • Oversee technical design across multiple teams, review and approve complex architectural decisions, establish technical standards and best practices.
    • Balances short-term delivery with long-term tech health
    • Creates a culture of handling security, design, privacy, stability and quality coding 'by default' with teams
  • Engineering Process & Execution
    • Defines and implements engineering processes, create measures that improves team productivity.
    • Allocate engineering resources effectively, identify and mitigate delivery risks.
  • Technical Strategy & Roadmap
    • Serves as the 'eye of the storm' for balancing forward product velocity, tech debt reduction, strategic improvements, and other demands on teams time
    • Develops short-, medium- and long-term technical roadmaps
    • Leverages industry experience to inform technical strategy and implementations
  • Stakeholder & Team Collaboration
    • Partner with product leaders on strategic initiatives, communicate technical vision to non-technical stakeholders, resolve cross-team technical conflicts.
  • Leadership & Communication
    • Build and develop engineering teams, coach the junior team members, establish career paths and support recruitment as required.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Deep understanding and experience of working on Financial Service cloud on Salesforce.
  • Understanding of wealth management is a definite plus
  • Strong technical background with experience implementing modern software architectures, including microservices, APIs, and cloud-native applications, especially hands on experience in Salesforce clouds - Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, etc.
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems and leading technical transformation initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts for various audiences
  • Track record of successful collaboration with product management and business stakeholders
  • Experience implementing and optimizing agile development methodologies


Qualifications & Experience
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience using Sales Cloud, Service Cloud or Financial Services Cloud with 4+ years in engineering management roles
  • Experience leading teams of 10+ engineers in a product-oriented environment
  • At least 2 years' experience building technology solutions using Financial Service Cloud.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $205,000-$225,000.

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
