Full Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Strategy Development:

  • Lead a team of retail planners in developing and executing divisional merchandise planning strategies.


  • Present merchandise financial plans and inventory strategy to senior leaders and create alignment among key stakeholders.


  • Manage all in-season revisions, forecasting to Merchandising Plans and Open-to-Buy for assigned area.


  • Set clear goals and targets for the divisional planning team, aligning with overall company objectives.


Forecasting and Planning:

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of divisional merchandise assortments, ensuring alignment with customer demand, trends, and financial goals.


  • Analyze historical sales data, current trends, and customer behavior to inform future inventory levels and product mix.


  • Develop and monitor sales forecasts, adjusting plans as needed to optimize sales and minimize inventory risk.


  • Analyze total company sku productivity and cascade guidance to Planning Managers by division to support company goals.


  • Collaborate with buying and merchandising teams to ensure that the right products are available in the right quantities at the right time.


Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage divisional merchandise budgets of $500M -$800M, ensuring alignment with financial targets and business objectives.


  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, inventory levels, and other key metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.


  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop pricing and promotional strategies that maximize profitability while meeting customer needs.


Team Management and Development:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to the divisional planning team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.


  • Conduct meetings with Merchandising Planning team to communicate opportunities or risks to the plan and changes in strategy to maximize profits.


Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including buying, merchandising, allocation, and marketing teams, to ensure effective collaboration and alignment.


  • Serve as a key point of contact for senior leadership, providing regular updates on divisional merchandise planning strategies, performance, and results.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of experience in a retail or wholesale environment, including time spent managing multiple direct reports


  • 4 Year College Degree (preferably in Business)


  • Strong problem-solving skills, utilizing technical expertise and good business judgment in support of operational and strategic objectives.


  • Proven capability to manage in a high-growth, demanding, and rapidly changing corporate environment.


  • Demonstrated ability to produce results by leveraging resources and managing key initiatives effectively.


  • Advanced knowledge of retail math and business acumen, including margin planning, sales forecasting, and inventory productivity measures


  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management


  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.


  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint


  • Prior experience with merchandising and planning systems


  • Knowledge of PowerBI, Microstrategy, and 09 MFP a plus
  • Must be Philadelphia based or willing to relocate
