What is the opportunity?

We are looking for a commercially minded, entrepreneurial leader with deep experience in the data product and alternative data ecosystem to help build differentiated data products and expand our connectivity across the external innovation landscape.

Sitting at the intersection of data, product, clients and innovation, this role will shape and commercialize strategic data products in close partnership with our Alternative Data Insights and Sales teams. The role will also serve as a key external connector for Innovation Foundry, working across Technology Banking, fintechs and technology companies to identify and advance new opportunities across Capital Markets and RBC.

We are looking for someone who can understand the client, spot the opportunity, shape the product, build the partnership and connect the right people to bring it to market.

What you'll do
Data Products & Commercialization
  • Partner closely with Sales as the data product expert, positioning and growing differentiated products with hedge funds, asset managers and other institutional clients.
  • Build deep client relationships to understand investment workflows, unmet needs and emerging alternative data use cases.
  • Shape the product vision and commercial proposition, translating unique datasets and client needs into differentiated products.
  • Lead product positioning, client pitches and go-to-market strategy in partnership with Sales and Alternative Data Insights.
  • Bring the voice of the market back into the organization to drive product enhancements, new use cases and future product development.


Strategic Data Partnerships
  • Identify unique datasets and potential partners that can create differentiated value for clients and internal teams.
  • Develop the product and commercial thesis for new opportunities, including client use case, differentiation and market potential.
  • Identify and develop strategic or exclusive data partnerships that create sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Lead external partner relationships from initial opportunity through product development and commercialization.
  • Coordinate across business, Sales, Technology, Legal, Compliance and Procurement to move opportunities from concept to execution.


What do you need to succeed?
Must-Have
  • Significant experience in alternative data, financial data, market intelligence, data products or a closely related industry.
  • Direct experience facing off with hedge funds, asset managers and institutional investors, with a strong understanding of how they evaluate and consume data.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and commercializing data or analytics products, from identifying the opportunity through go-to-market.
  • Strong commercial and product instincts with the ability to translate client needs, datasets and market trends into compelling product opportunities.
  • Strong relationship and communication skills with the ability to operate credibly across institutional clients, Sales, product and technology teams, external partners and senior executives.


Nice-to-Have
  • Established network across the alternative data, fintech, institutional investment or financial technology ecosystem.
  • Experience developing strategic or exclusive data partnerships and negotiating complex commercial relationships.
  • Experience working alongside institutional Sales teams to bring data, research or technology products to market.
  • Experience evaluating fintechs or emerging technology companies and connecting their capabilities to business use cases.
  • Experience navigating a large financial institution and coordinating opportunities across multiple businesses and stakeholder groups.


The Expected Salary Range For The Above Position Is $210,000 - $275,000 Depending On Factors Including But Not Limited To The Candidate's Experience, Skills, Registration Status; Market Conditions; And Business Needs. This Salary Range Does Not Include Other Elements Of Total Compensation, Including A Discretionary Bonus And Benefits Such As A 401(K) Program With Company-Matching Contributions; Health, Dental, Vision, Life And Disability Insurance; And Paid Time-Off Plan.
