Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Public Policy, Business, Political Science, or Economics or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of economic development experience within a corporate organization (e.g., tax, policy, legal, real estate, etc.), law firm, accounting firm, consultancy, or government agency.
  • 10 years of experience in contract negotiations.
  • 10 years of experience developing business to business partnerships.

Preferred qualifications:
  • 10 years of experience working in a commercial environment showcasing strength in B2B growth (GTM).
  • 10 years of experience with any of the following: industrial-scale projects, real estate evaluation, acquisition, development, and construction, community collaboration, city/mayor development coaching.
  • 10 years of experience with economic development impact studies or economic development marketing.


About the job

As Director, Data Center Ecosystem, you will combine your market and tech industry knowledge to support Google's infrastructure growth. You will be a commercial leader who will help facilitate managed growth in data center locations. You will advocate for Google and the data center industry, while building bridges that positively connect our data centers needs with those of commercial infrastructure that we support.

In this role, you will work closely with a network of internal stakeholders as well as strategic community leaders. You will be a key liaison to commercially advise our communities on our growth plans. You will partner with the local Chambers and Mayors' councils to facilitate collaborative engagements. This facilitation directly correlates to delivering commercial frameworks that minimize negative economic impact on hospitals, hotels, housing, restaurants, etc. as our localized presence brings growth to the communities.

Additionally, you will lead internal stakeholder alignment critical growth factors for each community and develop an alignment playbook that is specific to each community. This playbook focuses on the commercial side of developing local external affairs cross-county collaboration. In addition, you will be part of a core team advising localized leadership of managed growth expectations and infrastructure demands. Your knowledge of economic development, compliance, relationship and coalition building, policy and regulation, and company goals will position you to be an advocate for development and management of the global data center portfolio.

  • Advise state teams on impacts of tax and impact funds vs intended outcomes.
  • Ensure the civic fabric of businesses are woven into growth plans that position the local communities to grow.
  • Develop process mapping for local tax flows and funding mechanisms at both state and local levels to advise state teams on gaps to address.
