The Director, Corporate Development is responsible for leading the evaluation and execution of strategic transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and other growth initiatives. This role serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, including the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Board, delivering high-quality analysis, clear recommendations, and driving cross-functional alignment to achieve corporate objectives. The position requires a highly capable deal professional with strong financial acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage complex, high-visibility initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Lead end-to-end financial analysis and valuation workstreams across strategic transactions, including M&A, licensing, and partnerships.
- Build, refine, and oversee complex financial models that incorporate multiple scenarios, risks, and assumptions.
- Drive transaction processes beyond valuation, including structuring, negotiations, and execution.
- Synthesize cross-functional inputs into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
- Apply independent judgment to challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and surface risks.
- Serve as a trusted partner to key internal stakeholders, including Commercial, R&D, IP, Finance, Tax, Treasury, HR, and Transformation/Integration teams.
- Lead cross-functional discussions and alignment, often navigating competing priorities to drive decision-making.
- Independently run meetings and workstreams with senior stakeholders to maintain deal momentum.
- Manage relationships with external advisors, including investment banks, legal counsel, and consulting firms and ensure they deliver high-quality outputs aligned with transaction objectives and timelines.
- Enhance Corporate Development processes, tools, and templates to improve efficiency, consistency, and execution discipline.
- Develop and maintain transaction tracking mechanisms and reporting frameworks.
- Manage multiple concurrent transactions and priorities effectively.
- Demonstrate strong emotional intelligence and adaptability when navigating dynamic stakeholder environments.
- Drive alignment across large, cross-functional teams and ensure timely execution of key milestones.
The minimum qualifications for this role are:
- Bachelors degree required. Masters degree preferred.
- 6-10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical corporate development, investment banking, private equity or a related field
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation expertise across a range of transaction types.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex, high-visibility projects.
- Proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders and delivering executive-level presentations.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks and develop solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with attention to detail and clarity in both written and verbal formats.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and external advisors in transaction environments.
- High degree of ownership, proactiveness, and intellectual curiosity.
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The salary range for this position is $112,000 - $236,000.
