Full Job Description
The Director, Contracts Management will lead the global commercial contracting strategy and team at JBT Marel Corporation (JBTM). JBTM is optimizing its approach to contracts management, and the Director will lead the transformation from a decentralized network to a center-led, business-focused global team of contracts resources. The Director will be responsible for developing and integrating four primary workstreams - Sales, Procurement, IT & Digital, and Process & CLM - to provide dedicated business support, enhance governance, and accelerate business velocity. The Director plays a critical role in providing holistic support and leadership for commercial contracts across the JBTM Divisions and Regions.

On any given day you will:
  • Develop and implement a global contracts management framework and team structure to align to JBTM business activities.
  • Lead the Contracts Management team with a high-performance culture that balances rigor with agility and embraces professional development.
  • Design and operationalize a "Playbook" to establish standardized templates, fallback clauses, workflows, and approval processes.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts and related agreements, including, without limitation: sales, equipment leasing, services, procurement, technology, joint development, confidentiality, and licensing agreements.
  • Implement and maintain an enterprise-wide Contracts Lifecycle Manage tool.
  • Provide guidance and training to develop and support embedded business operations across the areas of support to the business.
  • Collaborate with other groups in Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Tax, Risk Management, Finance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate provisions are included in commercial contracts.
  • Conduct research and stay informed about changes in laws and regulations that may impact JBTM's business related to commercial contracts.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal JBTM teams on contract templates, processes, issues and best practices.
  • Retain and manage external resources when utilized to supplement contracts management activities, including review and approval of cost projections and invoices.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Experience:
  • Significant experience providing contracts advice and support to companies with global manufacturing or assembly operations will be a strong advantage
  • Deep understanding of the UCC and CISG
  • Experience negotiating and documenting complex commercial transactions with different types of counterparties across varying jurisdictions
  • Experience with implementation and utilization of a Contracts Lifecycle Management tool.
  • Familiarity with impact of contracts terms and conditions on commercial litigation and support of global regulatory compliance initiatives (e.g., third-party diligence) is desired
  • Experience managing a team in an international context is preferred


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • MBA or J.D. (or similar legal degree) from an accredited law school is highly preferred
  • Minimum of 10+ years of leadership experience in Sales, Contracts, or legal compliance role
  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience aligned to managing a team
  • Strong problem solver who can react to a growing business
  • Able to present complex ideas and concepts and improvement ideas to Sr. Leadership team
  • Proactive (rather than reactive) in both thought and action; a self-starter and independent
  • Practical, hands-on, collaborative approach to resolving issues. Appreciates the business strategy and operational needs of the company when providing guidance
  • Ability to influence and effect positive change management
  • Ability to adapt and be agile
  • Strong people development and project management skills


The estimated annual salary range for this role is $115,000- $135,000 annually. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.

Travel and location:

This role is hybrid located in our Chicago Illinois office

3 days in office/2 days from home
