Position OverviewThe Director, Coding Integrations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing coding integration strategy, operations, and performance across a large, complex academic health system. This position ensures seamless alignment between coding operations, clinical documentation, and enterprise revenue cycle performance while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and stakeholder partnership.
Given the scale, complexity, and academic nature of the environment, this role requires a strategic, highly visible leader capable of navigating multi-site operations, managing high clinical volumes, and driving consistent coding excellence across the system.

- 263,000+ radiology procedures annually
- 14,000+ surgical cases
- 51,000+ emergency department visits, including ~9,000 admits
- 81,000+ inpatient days
The breadth and volume of services require strong operational leadership, tight performance oversight, and scalable integration strategies to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesCoding Integration Leadership- Lead end-to-end coding integration strategy and execution across inpatient, outpatient, and professional services
- Ensure alignment of coding workflows, processes, and systems across multiple facilities and care settings
- Standardize policies, procedures, and best practices to drive consistency and efficiency across the enterprise
Academic & Quality Oversight- Ensure coding outputs align with academic medical center standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational expectations
- Partner closely with coding quality, education, and compliance teams to maintain high levels of accuracy and audit readiness
- Support provider engagement and clinical documentation improvement initiatives
Performance & Operational Excellence- Monitor and optimize coding KPIs including quality, productivity, turnaround time, and financial impact
- Analyze trends in denials, audits, and coding outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement
- Lead large-scale performance improvement initiatives to enhance revenue integrity and operational efficiency
Escalation & Issue Resolution- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex coding or client issues, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal operational disruption
- Partner with executive leadership and operational teams to address high-impact risks and challenges
- Drive accountability and follow-through on critical issues impacting performance or client satisfaction
Multi-Site Coordination- Provide oversight across multiple facilities and service lines, ensuring consistent execution and alignment
- Coordinate with Client Delivery, Operations, IT, and Clinical leadership to support system-level integration efforts
- Lead communication and change management initiatives across geographically dispersed teams
Leadership & Team Development- Lead, mentor, and develop coding integration leaders and teams to support scalability and growth
- Establish clear performance expectations and drive accountability across the organization
- Foster a high-performance culture aligned with Ensemble’s values and client expectations
QualificationsRequired- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in healthcare coding, revenue cycle, or HIM
- 5+ years of leadership experience in complex, multi-site environments
- Deep expertise in inpatient, outpatient, and/or professional coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
- Experience supporting academic medical centers or large teaching hospitals
- Proven track record managing high-volume operations and large, distributed teams
- Strong analytical, operational, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred- AHIMA or AAPC certification (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC)
- Experience leading enterprise-wide integrations or large-scale operational transformations
- Background in coding quality, CDI, or performance analytics
Work Environment & Travel- Hybrid/on-site engagement required based on client and operational needs
- Travel may be required to support multi-site operations and stakeholder engagement
