What is the Opportunity?

The Director, Cards Portfolio Analytics and Insight will report to the Senior Director, Network Strategy & Card Analytics and lead the team responsible for advancing analytics, insights, and decision support across the Cards business.

This role will be accountable leading the modernizing the Cards analytics function, strengthening how data and analytical assets are organized and governed, embedding AI into analytics workflows, and delivering actionable insights to Product Owners, senior leaders, and business partners.

The Director will also establish the governance and operating discipline required to ensure the team consistently delivers against core business management processes, including Monthly Business Reviews (MBR), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR), annual planning, forecasting, and other executive reporting requirements.

The successful candidate will be a strong, self-sufficient leader who can determine what matters most, direct the team toward the highest-value opportunities, manage competing priorities, and translate complex data into clear business implications and recommendations. The role requires a balance of strategic thinking, technical understanding, business judgment, execution discipline, and people leadership.

What will you do?

Analytics Modernization & AI Integration
  • Modernize analytics capabilities through scalable, automated tools and governance frameworks.
  • Develop and execute a roadmap for improving data pipelines, reporting, analytical tools, documentation, visualization, and self-service capabilities.
  • Embed AI/ML into workflows (e.g., coding, reporting, insight generation) to enhance productivity and depth.
  • Establish standards for code/data asset management, reproducibility, and self-service analytics.
  • Partner with Data, Technology, and Risk teams to ensure governed, trusted data access.
  • Shifting of team focus to strategic insight generation and decision support.


Strategic Insight, Business Partnership & Product Strategy
  • Serve as a strategic analytical partner to Cards Product Owners and senior business leaders
  • Deliver actionable insights on portfolio performance, customer behavior, profitability, and competitive dynamics.
  • Translate complex analysis into recommendations for Product Owners and executives.
  • Develop fact bases, scenarios, forecasts, and analytical frameworks to support major business decisions.
  • Support business cases and evaluate alternative strategic options, including associated financial, customer, operational, and risk implications.
  • Proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities tied to measurable outcomes.
  • Support product strategy (acquisition, pricing, rewards) with fact-based scenarios and forecasts.
  • Bring together internal and external data to create a broader perspective on portfolio performance and strategic opportunities.


Business Performance Governance
  • Govern MBR/QBR processes, ensuring insights-driven commentary on drivers, risks, and actions.
  • Standardize KPIs, methodologies, and data sources across reporting/planning.
  • Definite clear accountabilities, timelines, data requirements, review processes, and quality standards for recurring deliverables.
  • Ensure appropriate controls and quality assurance are in place before analytical results are distributed to senior leadership.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Product, Strategy, and other partners to ensure alignment between analytical reporting, forecasts, business plans, and strategic priorities.
  • Align analytical outputs with Finance, Product, and Strategy stakeholders.


Regulatory & Risk Analytics
  • Lead analytical support for regulatory changes, risk investigations, and policy impacts.
  • Translate requirements into business/customer impacts and defensible documentation.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Risk to ensure rigorous, reproducible analysis.


Team Leadership & Development
  • Coach and develop a high-performing team with emphasis on business acumen and executive communication.
  • Foster independence, problem-solving, and a culture of curiosity/continuous improvement.
  • Build succession depth and accountability for quality, deadlines, and knowledge sharing.


Prioritization & Execution
  • Allocate resources to high-impact initiatives using transparent prioritization criteria (strategic value, urgency, effort).
  • Balance strategic projects, product support, and governance deliverables.
  • Challenge low-value requests and operate independently on analytical priorities.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:
  • 10+ years of experience in analytics, cards, payments, financial services, or financial planning
  • Proven experience developing analytical teams and talent.
  • Expertise in AI/ML, data governance, and tools (SQL, Python, Power BI).
  • Ability to connect analysis to business/customer/financial outcomes.
  • Track record in modernization, automation, and prioritization.
  • Experience in financial services (cards/payments preferred), and P&L management.
  • Simplify complexity for executives; influence cross-functionally.


Nice to Have
  • Undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or other quantitative field of study
