Full Job Description
Position Overview

The Director of Benefits is the top benefits position with responsibility for the planning, development, management, and administration of the various team member benefit programs to include health and wellness, dental, vision, life, disability, and related retirement programs. Responsibilities include recommending new and improved benefit programs, evaluating cost-saving measures, managing the renewal and enrollment processes, ensuring compliance with benefit regulations and reporting requirements, and directing all benefit billing and reconciliation. The Director of Benefits will work with the benefits team to monitor eligibility, ensure accuracy of data and contributions, and control vendor interfaces. Under the leadership of the SVP - Total Rewards, accountability includes selection and supervision of benefits consultants, brokers, and necessary legal experts.

A Day in the Life

  • Support development and ongoing management of current benefit programs in order to maximize plan participant satisfaction, while managing health care and insurance costs.
  • Proactively maintain an understanding of benefits related compliance requirements and trends as related to Health Care Reform, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and FMLA
  • Short-term and Long-term planning - plan and execute modifications to existing benefits programs, plan design and contribution strategy.
  • Continually assess the company's benefits processes ensuring the organization is up to date and current with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Direct the annual open enrollment process and ensure high level customer services levels are maintained.
  • Create, enhance, and implement initiatives that focus on wellness.
  • Develop relationships with brokers/carriers to facilitate issue resolution, benchmark services, and promote partnership opportunities.
  • Direct preparation and distribution of communications and presentations to both educate team members on benefit programs and promote consumer driven health care initiatives.
  • Supervise the Benefits team, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training team members; planning, assigning, directing work; and managing overall performance. Must also support a multi-business unit organization.
  • Develop and oversee Benefits budget

    • 5+ years in a leadership capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree a plus.
  • Professional Human Resources or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) a plus
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
  • Experience with overseeing self-insured plans
  • Team player with high-level of influencing, diplomacy, negotiating and consulting skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment.

Compensation Range: $160,000.00 - $210,000.00
