The group consists of experts in various fields. They prototype, build, and scale data infrastructure and products. They assess, aggregate, and analyze data. They also create both qualitative and quantitative insights. This helps stakeholders by providing decision support, clear performance information, and actionable recommendations.
Role Details:
Paramount is seeking a Director of Analytics Engineering to lead the Content & Subscriber Analytics Engineering team within the Content & Lifecycle Analytics function. In this important management role, you will create the technical vision and strategy for two key data areas: content and subscriber data. You will also build and lead a team. This team will convert raw metadata, viewing data, and subscription events into reliable datasets, dashboards, and useful insights.
You will work closely with senior leaders in different areas. These areas include content operations and programming. They also cover licensing, subscriber growth, and retention. Additionally, they involve billing operations, product development, and engineering. Your goal is to ensure the organization has reliable and well-managed content and subscriber data. This data will help with decision-making for Paramount+, Pluto TV, and Paramount's overall streaming portfolio. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who has built and scaled analytics engineering teams and wants to own data strategy across both domains at once.
Responsibilities Build, lead, and grow a team of analytics engineers and analysts covering both content metadata and subscriber data domains. Set technical strategy and roadmap for content and subscriber data infrastructure, balancing near-term stakeholder needs with long-term platform investment.
Establish and champion coding standards, data governance practices, and documentation norms across the team.
Partner with engineering, product, and business executive team to align data priorities with company strategy. Own the strategy and plan for two key areas. The first area is content metadata pipelines. This includes title catalogs, rights and licensing windows, genres, talent, franchise/series hierarchies, and availability. The second area is subscriber data pipelines. This covers acquisition, plan tier and pricing changes, billing status, and cancellation or win-back events. Ensure we have reliable data models for both areas. This includes content metadata models for precise title, franchise, and window reporting. It also includes subscriber models that cover the whole subscriber lifecycle. These models will help us analyze retention, churn, and lifetime value. Drive data quality initiatives in both areas. Identify and fix issues like duplicate titles, conflicting rights windows, and incorrect taxonomy tagging in content. Also, tackle billing discrepancies, plan misclassification, and duplicate accounts on the subscriber side. Contribute to anomaly detection systems and operational dashboards that track content catalog health, subscriber funnel performance, and data quality KPIs across both domains.
Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in economics, Statistics, Analytics, Computer Science, MIS, Data Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience. 10+ years of experience in analytical engineering, data engineering, or data analytics, including experience managing or leading a team.
Solid SQL and data modeling expertise, with deep knowledge of ETL/ELT principles, data architecture, and performance optimization. Proven track record building and scaling data platforms and pipelines using tools such as Databricks, Airflow, Spark, or similar. You should have direct experience with content metadata. This includes title catalogs, rights and windowing data. It also includes genre or talent taxonomies. Comparable structured entertainment or media data is also acceptable. You must have direct experience with subscriber and subscription data. This experience includes working with acquisition, billing, plan tiers, and churn or retention events. You should have worked in a subscription or direct-to-consumer business. You should be able to influence senior stakeholders from various functions. You must also turn unclear business needs into a clear technical strategy. Fluency in cloud-based data environments (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and BI tools such as Looker and Tableau. Solid track record establishing data hygiene practices, including version control, code review standards, testing, and documentation, across a team. Great judgment and attention to detail, particularly when balancing competing priorities across two distinct data domains.
Additional Qualifications:Experience leading teams in charge of both content and subscriber data simultaneously or leading a team through a merger of previously separate domains. Experience with content rights and licensing data, including availability windows and territory restrictions.
Experience with subscriber lifecycle analytics, including churn modeling, cohort analysis, or LTV calculations.
Proficiency in Python or another scripting language for data transformation or orchestration.
Knowledge with streaming media or direct-to-consumer digital products.
Experience building or scaling anomaly detection systems.
Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and compliance best practices, particularly regarding subscriber PII, billing data, and licensed content.
