What you'll be doing

Global Operational Risk Management (GORM) provides enterprise-wide oversight of operational risk at CIBC, setting the direction through frameworks, policies, and processes that ensure effective risk identification, mitigation, and reporting. Within GORM, the Advanced Analytics and Solutions Team drives innovation by developing data-driven and AI-enabled solutions that enhance risk management capabilities.

As Director, Advanced Analytics, you will lead teams responsible for delivering advanced analytics, dashboards, automation, and artificial intelligence tools that improve operational risk insights and efficiency. You will oversee multiple initiatives, ensuring solutions meet business needs, regulatory standards, and governance requirements. By collaborating with key stakeholders, you will help shape solution strategies, communicate insights, and deliver products that support critical risk management programs. Additionally, you will mentor team members and translate GORM's AI strategy into practical, scalable solutions for risk professionals across the organization.

How you'll succeed
  • Lead delivery of advanced analytics and AI solutions - Oversee the development and enhancement of data solutions, dashboards, models, automation and AI-enabled tools that support operational risk management. Guide end-to-end delivery from requirements and design through build, testing, implementation, monitoring and enhancement.
  • Manage technical teams and delivery priorities - Lead technical contributors across multiple workstreams by setting priorities, allocating work, reviewing outputs, resolving delivery issues and helping team members deliver high-quality solutions aligned to established standards and business needs.
  • Translate business priorities into scalable solutions - Work with operational risk stakeholders to understand business problems, assess solution options, and guide the translation of requirements into practical, scalable data, dashboard, model and AI solutions.
  • Strengthen operational risk insight - Ensure analytics products support meaningful insight across GORM programs such as Change Initiative Risk Assessments, Risk and Control Self-Assessments, controls, deficiencies, key risk indicators, reporting and operational risk capital.
  • Communicate insights and technical concepts clearly - Present dashboard insights, analytical outputs, model results and solution recommendations to operational risk stakeholders. Explain technical concepts in clear business language and respond effectively to questions, risks and implementation considerations.
  • Support governance, quality and sustainability - Ensure data, dashboard, model and AI-enabled solutions are developed and maintained with appropriate documentation, testing, quality review, governance alignment, performance monitoring and operational sustainability.

It's an asset if you have experience with Python, SQL, business intelligence tools, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, model monitoring, operational risk data, financial services data, or governance-related analytics.
  • You understand operational risk. You have knowledge of operational risk programs and processes sufficient to ensure data, dashboard, model and AI solutions reflect business context, practical requirements and risk management objectives.
  • You have a degree or diploma in computer science, engineering, data science, statistics, mathematics, business analytics, risk management or a related field of study, or equivalent work/project experience.
