Director of Infrastructure Environmental ServicesRedmond, WA | Full-TimeIf you are an environmental leader who is energized by building something rather than maintaining the status quo, and who believes that great teams are built on trust, visibility, and genuine investment in people - this opportunity was made for you.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a Director-level role with real influence - over culture, strategy, people, and market direction. The team is talented, the client relationships are strong, and leadership is actively investing in what comes next. What they need now is a visible, present leader who can unite the group, mentor senior staff, and help grow the practice in new directions.
What You'll Love About This Opportunity- A private office in Redmond with a direct reporting line to the Northwest Division Manager and genuine influence over the direction of the practice
- A team of approximately 35 environmental professionals across ecology, NEPA/SEPA, wetlands, fisheries, permitting, compliance, and GIS
- A real seat at the table - leadership described this as a "choose your own adventure" role where the right person helps define how the group grows, not just executes someone else's plan
- A growing pipeline including Sound Transit MATOC environmental contracts, the Interstate Bridge Replacement Program, and expanding energy and renewables opportunities
- Competitive base salary of $180,000-$200,000 annually, plus annual performance bonus
- Comprehensive benefits including no-cost employee-only medical coverage, 401(k) with company match, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and clear career development pathways
What You'll Be DoingAs Director of Infrastructure Environmental Services, you will provide strategic, operational, and people leadership for a multidisciplinary environmental group supporting major transportation and infrastructure projects across Washington and the Pacific Northwest. Your time will be balanced across three core areas - people leadership, business development, and project and operational oversight - with the flexibility to lean into your strengths.
You will serve as the visible, present leader the team needs, mentoring senior project managers and technical specialists, relieving pressure on an already strong but stretched management team, and helping rebuild the culture of connection and stability the group is working toward. You will serve as an executive-level client contact for public agencies including WSDOT, Sound Transit, and local jurisdictions, as well as for heavy-civil contractors, and you will play an active role in business development - building owner-direct relationships, leading pursuits and proposals, and growing the firm's presence in NEPA, transportation, energy, and beyond. You will also oversee technical quality, QA/QC, staffing, utilization, and resource planning across the group.
What We're Looking For- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, natural resources, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- 15+ years of experience in environmental consulting, infrastructure environmental planning, or regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated leadership of large, multidisciplinary teams - 20+ staff
- Strong NEPA and SEPA experience, particularly on transportation and infrastructure projects
- Experience overseeing construction-phase environmental compliance for heavy-civil or alternative delivery projects
- Proven business development and seller-doer track record
- Established relationships with Washington transportation agencies, regulators, and local jurisdictions
- High emotional intelligence and the genuine desire to mentor, coach, and invest in people
- Someone excited to build - not just manage
Why This Opportunity Stands OutOur client has grown significantly through acquisitions and are now focused on becoming a unified, people-first culture built on collaboration, career development, and doing excellent work for clients. This hire will play a central role in making that real in the Pacific Northwest.
If you are looking for a role where your presence matters, your ideas get traction, and your leadership leaves a lasting mark on a team and a region - we would welcome the conversation.
