Environmental Director – Canada West

Overview:

Reporting to the Canada West Regional Manager, the Environmental Director will provide planning, leadership, coordination, and quality performance for the growth, development and delivery of Environmental Services in the Canada West Region (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia).

The role will leverage the candidate’s strong industry experience and profile to ensure the effective coordination and delivery of the environmental scope of complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects in the transportation, transit, and mining markets.

Primary Duties:

  • Provide strategic leadership and planning to identify and influence opportunities to grow and expand Parsons’ environmental service capabilities in the Canada West Region.
  • Through coordination with the Environmental Discipline Leads, identify environmental resource needs and acquire resources based on strategic planning and project delivery requirements.
  • Obtain value for service and quality assurance from Parsons’ large-value project environmental sub-consultants by having direct oversight in securing and managing the teaming arrangements with these sub-consultants and the delivery of the sub-consultant work programs.
  • Coordinate and implement a robust Quality Control and Assurance program for all aspects of Parsons’ preparation, implementation and submission of environmental plans, reports, documents, consultation materials, and approvals. Coordinate with Parsons’ and sub-consultant discipline leads and technical staff, on technical studies and preparation of environmental documentation.
  • Act as Project Manager and lead Infrastructure environmental projects or act as a Key Individual on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects within your area of planning and/or technical expertise with a particular focus on both traditional and APD projects for Parsons’ key Canada West clients, including Translink, BC Ferries, Alberta Transportation, City of Calgary, Manitoba Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and City of Regina among others. 
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert within your area of planning and/or technical expertise with a particular focus on both traditional and APD projects for Parsons’ key clients in other Regions within Canada.
  • Provide strategic direction, senior leadership and strong technical advisory on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects within western Canada, including transportation and transit Environmental Assessments.
  • Identify, coordinate and lead western Canada environmental business development pursuits. Participate in and lead marketing and business development meetings and regional environmental business improvement plans. Leverage existing relationships with key Canada West clients, including Translink, BC Ferries, Alberta Transportation, City of Calgary, Manitoba Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and City of Regina among others to support the Canada West Business Development Lead in the identification of traditional and APD project opportunities.
  • Participate in and lead Infrastructure project capture development, coordinating a core group of environmental professionals and third party environmental sub-consultants to achieve successful project capture.
  • Strategically identify and foster new client relationships to grow and expand Parsons’ environmental services delivery throughout the West and other Regions across Canada working with the Canadian Environmental Business Line Lead and other Regional Environmental Directors.
  • Leverage your expertise in consultation with Indigenous communities, as well as public consultation and stakeholder engagement on complex infrastructure projects to provide Senior Leadership and Advisory on these programs and lead (when required) these programs across the western Canada and other Regions.

Key Assets

  • Extensive experience working for and/or with key clients in the Canada West clients, including Translink, BC Ferries, Alberta Transportation, City of Calgary, Manitoba Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and City of Regina among others
  • At least 15 years’ experience in an Environmental professional delivering infrastructure projects.
  • University degree in science or planning.

This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.

Salary Range: $118,500 - $220,000
