Scope of Position The Digital Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting digital systems that enable data-driven manufacturing operations across Corning's external network. This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, IT, and External Manufacturing teams to improve visibility, efficiency, quality, and decision-making through automation, analytics, and integrated manufacturing systems.
The position focuses on translating manufacturing and business needs into scalable digital solutions, while ensuring data integrity, system reliability, and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities- Manufacturing Systems Enablement: Design, implement, and support digital manufacturing systems, tools, and applications that improve operational visibility, productivity, and performance.
- Data Integration & Automation: Develop and maintain automated workflows and data pipelines integrating quality, production, and supply chain data sources.
- Analytics & Reporting: Create dashboards, reports, and analytical tools to support KPI tracking, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and EMs.
- External Manufacturing Support: Partner with External Manufacturers to deploy standardized digital tools, ensure data alignment, and drive consistent reporting and performance measurement.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate manufacturing processes using digital technologies and best practices.
- System Ownership & Governance: Act as technical owner for assigned digital systems, ensuring data accuracy, documentation, validation, change management, and compliance with Corning standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and IT teams to define requirements and deliver effective digital solutions.
- Problem Solving & Support: Troubleshoot system issues, analyze data discrepancies, and provide timely resolution and user support.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline with 0 - 5 years of experience in a related field.
- Experience supporting or developing manufacturing or industrial systems (digital manufacturing, automation, analytics, or information systems).
- Strong analytical skills with experience working with manufacturing data.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities.
Desired Qualifications- Experience with data visualization, reporting, or analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL-based reporting).
- Experience with automation workflows (e.g., Power Automate, scripting, or system integrations).
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma concepts.
- Experience working with or supporting External Manufacturers.
- Exposure to global manufacturing operations or multi-site environments.
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $82,974.00 - $114,090.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
