Job Summary
A Manager of Mobile Equipment Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of mobile equipment used in various industries. This role involves managing a team of maintenance technicians, developing maintenance schedules, coordinating repairs, and ensuring equipment is operating efficiently and safely. Additionally, the Manager of Mobile Equipment Maintenance I may be involved in budgeting, inventory management, and implementing maintenance best practices to optimize equipment performance.

Essential Functions
• Manages hourly employees and supervisors relating to the maintenance and repair of mobile equipment.
• Develops new programs to service mobile equipment with an emphasis on cost control and maximum equipment utilization.
• Implements comprehensive mobile equipment training programs using both internal and external resources.
• Works closely with Corporate and region personnel on justification of new mobile equipment which includes vendor selection and negotiation on purchase or lease of mobile equipment. Works with vendors on specifications for new mobile equipment for the region.
• Evaluates and makes recommendations on the advantages of lease costs vs. purchase of mobile equipment.
• Works closely with region sites and Area Managers on monitoring warranty claims and defining root causes of failure of existing equipment.
• Manages employee and labor relations for personnel under his/her direction.
• Represents the region at business planning meetings with expertise for mobile equipment needs.
• Develops employees and performance measurements under their direction.
• Serves on Company-wide tasks or functional teams and provides input on Company policies and practices in the area of mobile equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned as required.

Responsibilities

Education
• BS / BA degree in Business Administration or Engineering or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.

Experience
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in directing activities relating to the preventative maintenance and repair of mobile equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge and understanding of preventive maintenance programs as they relate to mobile equipment.
• Knowledge of mobile equipment and application within aggregate operations.
• Able to supervise and direct activities of hourly maintenance employees.
• Able to develop and establish performance measurements for department.
• Knowledge and understanding of modern supervisory and management theory and practices.
• Possess excellent problem solving skills.
• Able to manage and direct activities of employees in a multi site/ multi state operations.
• Able to develop and design policies and practices to support area of responsibilities.
• Must be able to travel within area/region for extended periods of time (2-3 weeks).
• Able to establish priorities and develop resources to meet or exceed business goals and objectives.
• Possess good business planning skills.

Other Requirements
• Requires use of telephone, computers, cell phones and other electronic devices.
• Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Must have the ability to drive a pick-up truck on a daily basis; overnight travel is required.
• This position requires knowledge and awareness of site hazards. Protective gear will be required where appropriate.
• Position requires ability to work at multiple sites depending on business needs.
• Must be willing to work a rotating schedule with varying shifts.
• Ability to work in a stressful, deadline oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making. Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
