Full Job Description

Johnson Controls is seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to provide operational support for our web and mobile applications, ensure the stability of our application environments, and manage deployment pipelines across our Microsoft Azure ecosystem. This role is a blend of hands‑on troubleshooting, application maintenance, release management, and continuous operational support.

You will work in an agile, fast‑paced environment alongside onshore and offshore teams, collaborating closely with engineering leadership and cross‑functional technical partners.

Responsibilities

Application Support & Incident Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for web and mobile application support, resolving customer‑reported issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform detailed root‑cause analysis, document findings, and communicate status updates to the help desk, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
  • Troubleshoot issues across the stack, including React.JS front‑end applications, Spring Boot services, and SQL‑based data layers.

Pipeline & Release Management
  • Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines to support reliable deployments across multiple environments.
  • Manage application releases, ensuring proper versioning, documentation, and deployment validation.
  • Collaborate with development teams to streamline build and deployment processes.
Cloud & Infrastructure Operations
  • Support and maintain cloud resources within Microsoft Azure, ensuring availability, performance, and cost‑efficient operation.
  • Monitor application server health, remediate vulnerabilities, and apply software upgrades and patches.
  • Ensure proper observability by configuring and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and logging tools.
CrossTeam Collaboration
  • Work closely with networking engineers, DBAs, cloud engineers, hardware teams, software developers, and QA testers to resolve issues and improve system reliability.
  • Provide operational insights to engineering teams to help prevent recurring issues and improve application stability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for web and mobile applications in production environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when interacting with support teams and leadership.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting or developing web/mobile applications.
  • Proficiency with React.JS, Java, and Spring Boot, with the ability to understand and modify code when needed.
  • Strong SQL skills for debugging and resolving data‑related issues.
  • Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure for application hosting, deployment, and operational support.
  • Experience providing DevOps support in cloud‑based environments.
  • Familiarity with building and deploying web and mobile applications, REST and SOAP services.
  • Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, and ServiceNow for ticketing, planning, and pipeline management.
  • Experience with AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot).
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, iterative, agile environment.

This is a hybrid role based in our Boca Raton, Florida office, with consideration for remote candidates in major Johnson Controls locations.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $85,200 - $107,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
