Job Purpose:The Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and continuous improvement of Travis Trailer products throughout their full lifecycle. This role partners closely with Production, Quality, Sales, Marketing, and customers to create innovative, manufacturable designs that meet customer requirements while optimizing cost, quality, and production efficiency. The Design Engineer develops engineering drawings, CAD models, and bills of materials (BOMs), manages product data within the ERP system, and serves as a technical expert for both internal and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a DriveWorks and CAD expert, responsible for maintaining and enhancing design automation processes, ensuring BOM accuracy and integrity, and supporting seamless integration between engineering designs and ERP systems. This position requires strong manufacturing and design experience, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while driving continuous improvement and supporting organizational growth.
Essential Job Responsibilities:- Producing accurate and clear engineering drawings and accurate bills of material for new and existing products
- Creating custom designs and layout drawings on CAD system as required to customer order or specifications
- Maintain product BOM's and Items in Infor Syteline ERP system.
- Directly communicate with marketing and customers in the form of meetings and presentations to understand and define their needs
- Be able to assist Sales with pricing projects
- Produce technical illustrations for owner's manuals and bulletins
- Manage several projects at one time in a fast moving environment
- Handle all changes and problems related to product design
- Act as a technical expert for the company for both internal and external customers
- Responsible for an entire product's life cycle
- Work with production and quality to investigate ECR's and implement as required.

Essential Skills, Experience and Education:- Minimum of five (5) years of design and manufacturing experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of Driveworks experience
- Dealing with complexity, leadership, supervision, lean principles, manufacturing methods and procedures, manufacturing quality, presenting technical Information, CAD, CAD/CAM design
- Must be self-motivated, have a high sense of urgency, and be able to solve complex situations, be resourceful.
- Any other duties assigned by the Manager
- Valid TX DL
Essential Physical Requirements:- Occasionally lifting and carrying 25 lbs. unassisted
- Occasionally pulling and pushing 25 lbs. unassisted
- Repeated reaching overhead
- Occasionally kneeling, stooping, bending, and turning at the waist
- Occasionally climbing ladder above 2 ft.
- Able to wear PPE when working in the production area: safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, etc.

Required Work Hours and Schedules:- Monday thru Friday 7:30 AM- 05:00 PM
