Job Description:

Responsible for managing the entire Solutions Deployment (SD) scope on a given CBTC Signaling Project. Responsible for all the technical aspects of the Project that are deployment related, as well as planning, budgeting and scheduling issues related to Deployment. As such, the Deployment Project Manager (DPM) works closely with the Project Manager (PM) and Solution Engineering Manage (SEM) to plan and deliver the Project scope.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for all Solutions Deployment (SD) scope on a given CBTC Signaling Project.
  • Organize the logic of SD work with the SD Team Leaders, the SMO, and the Project team.
  • Reconciles bottom-up SD planning inputs from Team Leaders to top-down planning requirements from Project Manager.
  • Defines the project work with the Team Leaders including setting of priorities for review of work by others.
  • Responsible for good working relationships and team building for SD and non SD team members participating in the project.
  • Tracks and interfaces with the Procurement Manager to expedite the overall acquisition process and expedites when necessary to reduce risk.
  • Plans and conducts Deployment Reviews with internal teams and with the customer.
  • Ensures that the cost and schedule aspects of SD trade-off analyses are conducted properly.
  • Approves the site test and acceptance activities created by IVQ, if required due to the absence of a T&C Manager.
  • Works with the Bid Team to create the Deployment Management Plan.
  • Identifies SD project risks and manages the resolution of SD project risks.
  • Provides regular DPM reports to Senior Management.
  • To ensure the Infrastructure design path taken by the Infrastructure Engineers is contract compliant, supports the project budgets, schedules, and is compatible with the migration strategy outlined in the Deployment Management Plan.
  • Early identification and resolution of SD risks to avoid cost and schedule impacts
  • To ensure interdepartmental discussions are integrated to ensure a constant and accurate flow of information
  • Define Project SD work scope
  • To create an integrated team atmosphere between the internal and external SD disciplines participating on the project while ensuring compliance to Chorus processes and procedures.


Key Requirements:
  • University graduate (Bachelors degree is minimum) with an engineering or science background
  • 10+ years working experience in Design and Deployment of a Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling project
  • Logical approach to problem solving.
  • Persuasive powers & able to remain calm under crisis.
  • Ability to motivate and deliver results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven Project management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of current and legacy desktop publishing software (e.g. MS Suite, Visio, DOORS, Adobe Acrobat,
  • Requirement Management tools such as DOORS or equivalent, JIRA)
  • Sufficient knowledge of International Relations and requirements that follow
  • Proficient in use of SAP
  • Excellent Language and Communication skills
  • P&L Management
  • Adept at People Management/leadership
  • Sufficient knowledge in Negotiation
  • Possesses strong Bid Management skills
  • Technical knowledge and skills required, e.g. system engineering; Safety HW/SW design etc.
  • Previous experience in operational development


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensed with Professional Engineers of Ontario


Base Salary: $123,909 - $156,125
