Full Job Description
Overview

Joby Aviation is seeking a Deployable Flight Test Mechanic to maintain and sustain deployed J208 aircraft operating with Superpilot autonomy technology. Reporting to the Operational Evaluation Deployment Lead, this role is responsible for daily airframe, powerplant, and system maintenance in field environments. You will interact with customers on deployed sites and collaborate with developmental engineering to report maintenance trends and flow operational feedback back for product updates.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled airframe and powerplant maintenance on deployed J208 aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and manufacturer specifications
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections, ground handling, servicing, and field repairs in CONUS and OCONUS operational settings
  • Represent Joby maintenance standards to current and prospective military and civil stakeholders on evaluation sites
  • Document maintenance events, track component reliability, and coordinate with developmental engineering to report system anomalies and recommend product improvements
  • Maintain ground support equipment and tool accountability during remote deployments


Required

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
  • Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on aircraft maintenance experience (more experienced applicants should also apply)
  • Practical understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic aircraft systems
  • Active US Security Clearance, or ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance post-hire
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% domestically (CONUS) and internationally (OCONUS)


Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds


US Person Status: This position requires access to technology, materials, or software that is subject to export control regulations under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). To comply with these regulations, applicants must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) (i.e., a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or individual granted asylum or refugee status).

Desired

  • Experience performing maintenance on Cessna 208 Caravan aircraft or PT6 turboprop engines
  • Prior experience maintaining aircraft at remote operational sites or US military installations
  • Experience supporting flight test operations or autonomous systems integration


Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $47-$65/hr The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
