Location: Atlanta, GAThe Role: DCO Facilities Chief EngineerThis role serves as the senior technical authority for facilities infrastructure within Data Center Operations. You provide subject matter expertise across electrical, mechanical, environmental, and life safety systems that support mission-critical operations. The role leads complex problem resolution, supports commissioning and design reviews, and drives continuous improvement across campus infrastructure without direct people management responsibility.
What You'll Do - Provide senior technical leadership for critical power, cooling, and environmental systems.
- Lead technical response efforts during infrastructure events and support root cause analysis activities.
- Participate in Change Advisory Board reviews and ensure operational readiness for planned changes.
- Support commissioning, startup, and deployment of new equipment across local and regional campuses.
- Review mechanical and electrical design documents and provide operational feedback to engineering, construction, and vendors.
- Drive improvements to maintenance strategies, automation efforts, and operational processes.
- Lead technical working sessions to resolve recurring facilities challenges.
- Review and approve procedures for maintenance activities, safety programs, and OSHA compliance.
- Develop infrastructure performance metrics and provide reporting to leadership.
- Mentor technicians and engineers to strengthen technical capability within DCO.
- Deliver technical training related to arc flash safety, power systems, mechanical systems, and control sequences.
- Support compliance audits and certification activities.
- Travel as required to support multi-campus initiatives.

What You'll Bring - 8 or more years of experience in facilities, electrical, or mechanical systems within data center or comparable mission-critical environments.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems including generators, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, ATS or STS units, PDUs, chillers, cooling towers, pumping systems, and fire suppression systems.
- Provide technical leadership for all hydronic infrastructure, including chilled water plants, cooling towers, heat exchangers, pumps, piping distribution networks, and water treatment systems, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and operational resilience.
- Oversee preventive maintenance, condition assessments, and lifecycle management of hydronic and water treatment assets, leveraging data-driven analysis to improve system efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements related to water management programs while driving continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Switch operational standards.
- Strong understanding of control systems and sequences of operation.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical drawings.
- Experience supporting commissioning, design review, and infrastructure deployment.
- OSHA 30 certification required; additional relevant certifications preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
