Full Job Description
MetaPhase is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to support the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in its Financial Systems Modernization (FSM) efforts. This role is responsible for securing enterprise database systems across Oracle, Microsoft, and PostgreSQL platforms, ensuring performance, integrity, and compliance with DHS enterprise architecture standards. The DBA will play a role in supporting complex data migration, modeling, and integration activities using AWS-hosted environments, while embedding security best practices aligned to federal cybersecurity frameworks. What You Will Be Doing: • Design, implement, secure, and maintain robust database solutions in support of a FSM program. • Oversee database architecture that supports complex data warehousing, ETL, and migration activities from legacy financial systems. • participate in day-to-day operations of AWS-based relational database services (RDS), Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL environments. • Ensure database security and compliance in line with federal information security standards (FISMA, NIST 800-53). • Leverage Informatica IICS, PowerCenter, and IDQ tools to support data integration, quality assurance, and migration tasks. • Develop and optimize SQL queries, APIs, and WebADIs to enhance performance and streamline data access across platforms. • Implement and monitor database backup, recovery, and high availability strategies. • Collaborate with technical and security teams to ensure alignment with DHS' common operating environment and enterprise architecture policies. • Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively mitigate risks related to data access and integrity. • Support audits and maintain compliance documentation for cybersecurity controls. What We Need From You (Required): • U.S. Citizenship required (NO EXCEPTIONS) • 3+ years leading data modeling, warehousing, and migration activities • 4+ years of hands-on experience with AWS RDMS • 3+ years working with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server • 2+ years of SQL development experience using WebADIs and APIs • Enterprise data integration / ETL • Bash scripting (or equivalent) • SQL (PostgreSQL / Oracle) • Apache Airflow / AWS Glue (likely to be the new solution) • Familiarity with Linux • SFTP / file transfer protocols Bonus Points (Desired): • Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA data landscapes and integration patterns Work Setup & Travel: • Hybrid - Based in Washington, DC. Occasional travel may be required.
