Full Job Description
Purpose and Impact:

Amentum is seeking a Top-Secret cleared Senior Database Administrator to join our team in Washington, DC. You will lead an advanced engineering organization whose mission is to accelerate operations through enterprise-scale data strategy and predictive analytical insights. The section leverages agile methodologies to deliver high-performance reporting and global search capabilities that facilitate task management, cross-utilization, and national intelligence priorities while maintaining strict protection of confidential data and sources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership & Strategy: Lead large-scale, enterprise data initiatives and direct the architecture, design, and delivery of complex on-premises and cloud-based database ecosystems.
  • Advanced Architecture & Integration: Oversee the end-to-end design, implementation, and optimization of highly complex database infrastructures, maintaining enterprise data dictionaries and driving seamless system integration.
  • Database Engineering & Testing: Direct the administration, stress testing, and performance tuning of mission-critical database management systems across diverse environments.
  • Security & Governance: Plan, coordinate, and execute enterprise-grade security measures and access controls to rigorously safeguard sensitive databases and classified information.
  • Change Management & Collaboration: Coordinate high-impact architectural changes, serving as the primary technical authority for database operations in close collaboration with program managers, senior stakeholders, and intelligence community partners.


Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday 8-hour days onsite. Flexibility within 2-week pay period to reach 80 hours.

Essential Responsibilities:

Designs, implements, and maintains moderately complex databases. Maintains database dictionaries and integration of systems through database design. Administer and test computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems. Coordinate changes to computer databases. May plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases.

Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems. Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
  • Minimum of 7-9 years of experience collectively with the following:
    • Database administration
    • Implementing data policies, procedures, and standards
    • Planning and development of an organization's enterprise data model
    • Resolving data conflicts
    • Managing data repositories
    • Experience writing complex PLSQL/SQL statements
    • MySQL and Postgres database administration experience


Security Clearance Required:
  • Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility


Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or other related field.
  • In absence of degree, additional years of experience may be substituted for educational requirements


Minimum Years of Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with 3 years of related technical specialized experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Database:
    • Postgres 15+
    • Liquibase configuration management
    • Yet Another Markup Language (YAML), JavaScript Object Notation (JSON)
    • Entity-Attribute-Value (EAV) design
    • Data migration experience from MySQL to Postgres
  • Business Analysis and Project Management:
    • SAFe Agile Principles
    • Jira
    • Confluence

Compensation Details:
US:$160,000 - $175,000
