Job Description:

PayPal, Inc. seeks Data Scientist in Chicago, IL

Job Duties: Analyze and process large sets of data using statistical software. Apply sampling techniques to determine groups to be surveyed or use complete enumeration methods. Compare models using statistical performance metrics. Apply mathematical principles or statistical approaches to solve problems in scientific or applied fields. Analyze business or financial data. Analyze data to identify or resolve operational problems. Analyze data to identify trends or relationships among variables. Work on a broad array of projects from card risk strategies, acquisition, and payment risk strategies. Work closely with Stakeholders including Credit Risk, Product, and Engineering teams to optimize fraud strategies and portfolio performance. Analyze and assess emerging fraud trends and propose mitigation strategies. Maintain and develop Monitoring and Alerting capabilities to clearly monitor the CBMC program health and simplify insights for key stakeholders. Present regular updates to senior leaders on Portfolio Health, highlights, lowlights, and actionable insights. Demonstrate full ownership of portfolio and be responsible for end-to-end management of Fraud loss and decline rates. Collaborate with different teams to develop strategies for fraud prevention, loss savings, and optimize transaction declines. Prepare periodic KPI reports summarizing the business units' risk and control environment for senior management. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1. Experience with basic analytics (2 years).

2. Experience with fraud risk management in financial services industry (2 years).

3. Experience writing SQL queries to analyze large datasets (2 years).

4. Experience building interactive dashboards and visual reports using Tableau (2 years).

5. Experience using MS Excel and Pivot Tables to create analytical views and summarize data (2 years).

6. Experience using visualization tools to present analytical insights (2 years).

7. Experience in machine learning methods (1 year).

8. Experience in applying data science techniques to solve real-world problems (1 year).

9. Experience using Python to analyze large datasets (1 year).

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
