The Data Platform Risk & Operations Analyst will support the Enterprise Data & Artificial Intelligence, Platform Data & Operations team, by providing risk analysis, documentation, reporting & data management support. This role combines technical expertise in data visualization and dashboard management with strong risk management acumen to deliver actionable insights and help reduce risk across Scotiabank's legacy and emerging data and AI capabilities. Expertise in data platforms, Cloud, security and operations is considered an asset.

The role reports to the Senior Manager, Operations, Data Platform & Operations.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to the design of the overall risk and issues management framework, delivery/operating model and related processes in compliance with the Bank's broader Enterprise standards;
  • Supports periodic effectiveness reviews and contributes to continuous improvement of the team's internal processes;
  • Working with the Senior Manager and other relevant stakeholders, develop actionable project plans to address data/platform risks and issues within required timelines;
  • Manage the team's internal and/or external risk & issues management documentation, reporting, tracking, and dashboards, providing insights and recommendations to the Senior Manager as well as ensuring accuracy in metrics, KPIs and KRIs;
  • Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly updates to various forums and stakeholders;
  • Manages preparation and writing of audit related documentation, required evidence, and closure packages and coordinates responses/communication with relevant stakeholders;
  • Maintain awareness of data security, compliance and platform concepts to support ongoing reporting and risk management needs;
  • Ensure adherence to data reporting standards and methodologies;
  • Uphold integrity and compliance by reporting any practices that may compromise the organization as well as execute responsibilities with efficiency, productivity, and adherence to institutional policies and regulations.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Minimum five (5) years' experience working in a technology risk/audit, data and data platforms, technology or banking environment with various operational, regulatory and technical risks and controls;
  • University degree in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience;
  • Proven experience working with large, matrix organization with various stakeholders, priorities and constraints.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences at various levels within the organization;
  • Ability to evaluate the design effectiveness, operating effectiveness and sustainability of various operational and/or technical controls developed and implemented by the data platform teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to ensure alignment and buy-in from stakeholders;
  • Strong technical reporting and data visualization skills in PowerBI, Excel with exceptional attention to detail especially in reporting, metrics and data;
  • Significant experience with Enterprise project management and communication tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint);
  • Proven ability to understand regulatory, legal and risk concepts and convert them into business requirements;
  • Understanding of banking products/services, operations, systems/infrastructure, policies & processes, controls and organization is preferred;
  • Experience in Enterprise data platform engineering and/or information security and controls is an advantage.
