Subject matter expert on small business banking data analytics and reporting. Contributes to development, operations, and maintenance of the Analytics and Reporting for small business banking in Canada. Ensures specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all the activities conducted comply with the governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Supports and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Executes the data management strategy to deliver data-driven reporting and supports data analytics while ensuring that the application meets the Banks IT Risk and governance compliance requirements.
  • Provides technical direction and guidance to the team on reporting and analytical solutions to support Retail Lending, Day-To-Day banking and Small Business banking.
  • Builds and maintains a strong working relationship with peers across the business lines including key stakeholders across Retail Lending, Day-To-Day banking and Small Business banking divisions in Canadian Banking.
  • Supports, maintains, and enhances the Reporting solutions to meet business needs.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains complex distributed data pipelines by leveraging legacy platforms including SAS, Mainframe as well as data and reporting platforms from Microsoft.
  • Effectively implements SDLC across the specification, design, build, test, and deployment phases of development. Enables Agile culture and facilitates Scrum and Kanban.
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet the obligations with respect to operational, compliance, ML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 15+ years of experience developing and managing MIS reporting solutions.
  • 15+ years of hands-on experience in building data pipelines using tools like MVS procs/JCL, SAS with exposure to SQL based analysis on RDBMS like SQL Server/Sybase/DB2/Oracle.
  • Expert knowledge of MVS procs/JCL and SAS.
  • Experience in Reporting tools including Power BI Report Server and Services, Power BI Desktop will be a plus.
  • Experience in Atlassian Jira/Confluence, GIT, TFS/Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of Canadian Banking source systems including covering Commercial Banking, Retail Lending, Day-To-Day banking, Small Business banking is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written/verbal)
  • University degree in IT/Computer Science/Business Administration and relevant experience.
