Data Engineer to join our team in
Ashburn, VA. This is a hybrid-remote position requiring 2-3 days onsite per week.
Each day, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) oversees the massive flow of people, capital, and products that enter and depart the United States via air, land, sea, and cyberspace. The volume and complexity of both physical and virtual border crossings require the application of solutions to promote efficient trade and travel. Further, effective solutions help CBP ensure the movement of people, capital, and products is legal, safe, and secure. In response to this challenge, MANTECH, as a trusted mission partner of CBP, seeks capable, qualified, and versatile Data Engineers to facilitate data-driven decision making in response to national security threats.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Perform data analysis of large database tables to understand the data structures, definitions, and patterns used to support predictive models.
- Work closely with clients to assist in managing data needs and supporting collection of data needed for various operational needs.
- Conduct data analysis, problem solving, investigation, and creative thinking with massive amounts of data supporting a variety of operational scenarios.
- Assist with implementing cloud architecture and workflows (migrating on-premise workloads to Cloud Platforms).
- Respond to data queries/analysis requests from various groups within an organization, creating and publishing regularly scheduled and/or ad hoc reports as needed.
- Research and document data definitions for all subject areas and primary data sets supporting the core business applications.
- Manage source code control using GitLab while leveraging application-relevant cargo and passenger data and databases to support analytic application development, functionality, and targeting end user (officer) operations.
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field with 7+ years of experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience, ranging from High School Diploma + 15 years to M.S. + 5 years or PhD + 3 years).
- Experience supporting full-lifecycle data warehousing or enterprise data platform projects, including experience with large-scale data architecture, design, and implementation or migration.
- Experience working with relational or non-relational database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, NoSQL, or similar).
- Experience with data integration, data pipeline construction, or Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) development and related concepts.
- Experience with cloud environments (such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar) and assisting with cloud migrations or cloud-native development.
Preferred Qualifications:- Knowledge of Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools.
- Experience with SQL querying, BI tools (Power BI, OBIEE), and data analysis.
- Experience with big data frameworks and distributed processing (Spark, Kafka, Hadoop).
- Experience with Databricks for enterprise lakehouse architectures and collaborative analytics.
- Experience with the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence).
Clearance Requirements:- Must hold either an active Top Secret clearance (eligible for agency reciprocity) or active DHS CBP suitability.
- Must be able to obtain DHS CBP suitability.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Physical Requirements:- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
The projected compensation range for this position is $114,600.00-$190,200.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
